    horsefeathers owners, desperately glomming on to trashbin rando white dudes as baseball heroes, sweatily hoping the farm system poops out 1-2 players even remotely as good as the Cubs will never trade/pay for, griping about the Cardinals being eternally better...it's weird how quickly it's like the last 5+ years of Cubs stuff never happened.     That will go great with our versions of Vlad, Bichette and Teoscar Hernandez with the world series win in hand, the ricketts are content to go for 80-85 wins Pretty much. They're gonna just aim/hope for just sniffing .500 most years, and gamble that they either stumble into enough cheap internal quality player development to give them a few extra games, or the division sucks enough for them to broken clock their way in every few seasons. Basically if they do anything with FA beyond patching holes with their bare minimum they think they need to spend and meatball fan-appeasing deals to bring back old Cubs, I'll eat the fuckin' Cubs hats I should have thrown out years ago.

    Well that's pretty petty. Seriously. *edit* And for what's it's worth, I've been a member of this forum for almost two decades. I don't spout off, I don't antagonize, I certainly don't troll. I'm a huge Cubs fan. So I generally don't post on any of the non-Cubs threads because I'm a Cubs fan first. But I obviously incorrectly thought that being on this board so long at least gave me a little bit of credibility as not being a troll. Apparently not. I'm not Bears fans by any means, but I think I'm a mostly objective fan in all sports. And I really don't think anything I've posted about the Bears (rarely) is egregious/outrageous/inflammatory/whatever. Seriously. And if "anything" I post on the Bears forum is "read as douchiness" because I'm a Packers fan, well that's pretty thin skinned. You're a packers fans deriding the bears with sarcastic comments in a bears thread. That's douchy.

    Any Bears fan not picking the winning season is in complete denial about the horsefeathering historically inept team they're a fan of. Like, the architects of all of their most recent humiliations are still in charge, come the horsefeathers on.

    I'm more annoyed that to him the biggest sin of the Ricketts' explicitly selfish mishandling of the team is this basically non-starter of an idea. Like, THAT'S what bugs him the most about these mushy ghouls driving all of this into the ground?

    I was immediately struck by the futility represented here. First of all--4 games is...not a lot of games. And 30 points is...not a lot of points. (Above average for a game, perhaps, but nothing earth shattering. And yet--55 seasons is a hell of a lot of games. So I decided to look at when some other teams last had a 4 game stretch of 30+ point games, to decide how embarrassing this fact is. Starting with the obvious Chiefs with their powerhouse offense,. Well, they did it in 2020. Naturally. Seattle did it in 2020 If we include playoffs, Tampa Bay had 7 games above 30 points in a row....in 2020 (3 regular season, 4 playoffs) Arizona had 5 30+ point games in a row...in 2020 Green Bay had 4 30+ games in a row TWICE in 2020 The Titans had a 4 game streak and a 5 game streak....in 2020 After this I was too drunk to continue. Something it took the Bears 55 years to do was done by (at least) 6 teams just last year. The futility is just staggering.
