  1. I'd virtually guarantee he has been identified by internet nuts and I'm sure, even after he was proven innocent, that he's being threatened and harassed. yeah you can't guarantee that, and it's probably not even true I don't know if anyone IDed him, but I've definitely seen plenty of people online still today saying they think he was dropping the n-bomb and it's just being "covered up" or whatever. That said, however, this blew up before anyone with MLB said anything, so pinning it on some kind of vague official statement that didn't ID the guy or show the clip is a stretch. This was a thing BECAUSE of social media; it didn't become a thing on social media because of anything the Rockies or MLB or the Players' Union said.
  2. Must've missed the multiple times where I said, "I figure this is what he was thinking, but he was wrong," champ.
  3. The bold is a complete fallacy. when the vaccines were coming online, I dont think it was unusual to look at them as the tool that would help to bring normalcy back to the world. In fact, they were advertised as being that Of course they are, but it's not an either/or, flipping the switch proposition. Again, I'm fed up with people who can get the vaccines not getting it, but I'm saying I get why someone like Rizzo might have made the bad choice he did. He wasn't some jackoff just acting like everything would be fine and he could just live his life like normal; from all reports he was all in on the protocols designed to ideally keep people from getting sick, and he likely foolishly thought would still be enough to justify his decision to not get jabbed ASAP, especially since getting the vaccine doesn't and shouldn't mean you should just stop doing at least some variation of what the COVID protocols require.
  4. Honestly, that's the only way where I can squint and Rizzo doesn't look like a complete doof. He was probably all in on the behavioral protocols to keep people healthy, and it sounds like he was a big leader along those lines. Guy likely would have preferred to keep doing that, figuring it would be enough, but he was wrong. that would be the most backwards way to approach this: ie behavioral change ad nasuem in lieu of a shot. why change your life and everyday activities instead of just getting two pin pricks? In a way, that imagined approach makes Rizzo out to be at least as stupid as being anti-VAX The bold is a complete fallacy.
  5. I feel like the Cubs were just extremely lucky last year that they didn't have an outbreak, and this year they've been mostly unscathed because they are one of the few teams that have to live with the under 85% protocols. For an organization that can hardly do anything right the last few years, I doubt they somehow devised the optimal strategy for preventing COVID outbreaks. There was some stuff last year (I think in the Athletic?) about how they actually were really great about things. Doing things like choosing hotels with outdoor areas they could take over, etc. Part of it was also that the team leaders like Rizzo, Heyward, etc. were part of enforcement in the early part of the year when less of the protocols we're mandatory. So while they have been doofuses a out the shot they were a big part of last year's efforts. And the team did have a small outbreak early this year. It's just that it nabbed guys in the bullpen we don't care about like Brandon Workman and Dan Winkler.
  6. Generally the main sticking point with people who have had or are undergoing cancer treatments is what immunosuppressant treatments they might be on, and even then most doctors are advising patients to get vaccinated, even if they are ACTIVELY being treated for cancer. Reading WAY into it, but that really sounds like, "hey, you should get this vaccine"...."naaaaaaaaaah, pass!" Dude pretty obviously opted not to on his own.
  7. Is the Astros saving Theo from himself with Appel or the rain delay in Game 7 the bigger Butterfly Effect/Sliding Doors-type moment for the Epstein-era Cubs?
  8. Which is kinda what Theo promised, right? Lots of long battling at bats with walks and lots of pop to bring them in. I know it’s baseball wide, but the strikeouts just crushed this team. The baseball landscape has changed significantly since Theo took over. High velo relivers are all the rage and SP are not getting a thrid trip through the lineup. I really think their approach to pitching is maybe the thing that sunk it all post-2016. I mean, yeah, I get "horsefeathers pitchers" because of the especially inherent unreliable nature of trying to focus on developing them, but man, you just cannot bomb out THAT horsefeathering bad in terms of developing ANY pitchers, period. They had, what, Carl for a couple of years? It's brutal. And the high velocity/fireball thing seemed to really catch them off guard. Clearly I pay next to no attention to the minors, but with the relatively pitchers they were trying to develop, were any of them projected to be power arm-type guys? It felt like so much of their focus was on trying to develop or sign pitchers that weren't going to be able to blow anyone away.
  9. I honestly thought Contreras had been traded.
  10. Holy horsefeathers. A Chicago sports team that I want to watch?!?
  11. Yeah, but you don't need to sleep anyway.
  12. we are not back to 2011 Your creepy avatar says otherwise.
  13. But what would they do with all those SS?
  14. 4 hours after Rizzo has been traded to the Yanks and this thread is just barely over 3 pages. Tim, I'm sorry for your loss.
  15. The hiring of Ross now looks like a horsefeathering volley of flares fired signalling that this org, at best, did not give two flying fucks about how well this team did over the last 2 seasons, and at worst were actively trying to sabotage it.
  16. Couldn't imagine a more fitting way for this fiery plane crash of an organization to likely send him off. Amazing.
  17. Plus, on a MUCH less serious level, all that horsefeathers that people initially found endearing (like, "Rose don't dance!") turned out to be because he's a stone cold creep. Every time he opens his mouth he sounds like a dead-eyed, monotone, sociopathic lunatic, and I am baffled by the narrative that somehow he's this amazing, inspirational comeback story.
  18. Sure, but he only did it because it was off of Garret.
  19. Kinda great how the NL Central has maybe become the saltiest division in baseball. Buncha shitty teams just constantly taking out their frustrations on each other.
  20. Yeah, what the horsefeathers is with this weird tangent in this thread. Rose has only upped his creep/weirdo game since he left Chicago. Yeah, great, he's managed to become a useful player again, but fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck that.
