Yeah, most of this for me is just in the moment venting over a really horsefeathering dumb series/game, but the flipside of that crossed over long ago into, "it's just a little airborne; it's still good!"-hilarity. -

It does repeatedly crack me up how we have people talking here like the problem with the Cubs' starters has been that they melt down 4-5 innings into their starts. The starting rotation is legit horsefeathering terrible, and they act like it's going to just somehow work itself out in less than 2 months. Hendricks is back to his normal self, Q is mostly fine and Yu is going to be back. So yeah they should be mostly fine and worked out. Quintana is the same unimpressive pitcher he's been all year (he was actually at his worst in July, but one start in August means he's suddenly figured it out, I guess), Darvish is in limbo, and Hendricks is sometimes good Hendricks. To just rattle all of that off like it's going to fall into place, or they'll be bailed out by a heavily worked bullpen, when it's already August 5th is more than a tad presumptive.

A team that wins a bunch of close, low run games is a fraud, but the team that has to repeatedly come from behind to win way too often has figured out the recipe for playoff success. Hopefully nobody tells the other teams about bullpenning it.

Why do you goobers act like "we'll just bullpen it" is some trump card lmao. If the starter gives up 5 runs in three innings, it's not gonna make much of a difference how good our bullpen might be. But hey, all they have to do is just get to the playoffs. It's not like they didn't look like a pile of garbage last year and barely beat the horrendously mismanaged Nats in a hideous, hideous serious. Yeah but in that first round series I think Hendricks in game 5 was the only start that wasn’t excellent. I guess maybe it would be the opposite and the offense carries the series Yeah, the starters were great until that last game. The bullpen was farting up a storm.

Psh, they got 2018 Cole Hamels and all of the hopes and prayers of the fanbase that the other guys somehow get better. PROBLEM SOLVED. To be fair, I'm pretty sure 2018 Cole Hamels is our best starter now. But hey, all they have to do is just get to the playoffs. It's not like they didn't look like a pile of garbage last year and barely beat the horrendously mismanaged Nats in a hideous, hideous serious.

They were 2-14 in their previous 16 games and a very poor offense was a big part of that. The Cubs starting pitching has statistically been one of the 2-3 worst staffs in the NL so it makes sense they get going against us. Psh, they got 2018 Cole Hamels and all of the hopes and prayers of the fanbase that the other guys somehow get better. PROBLEM SOLVED.

Awful. They were I think 5-25 last month. But maybe they scored a ton of runs but their pitching was really bad. Their offense is in the bottom 2 of almost every team stat except for dongs, where they manage a might #4. So clearly the type of team that a team that totally really isn't definitely for sure not the fraud team in the division should be struggling to handle.

I'd be down for signing Mike Carp out of retirement to see if he can out pitch Lester.

Because they ain't coming back in this one with this absurd lineup, and there's no need to punish the bullpen for his turdiness. Let him get closer to finally wearing an ERA that doesn't hide his suckiness.

Ultimately he's only about a year ahead of schedule in terms of what I was expecting out of a pitcher of his age singing that contract, but still, it's annoying as horsefeathers, especially since he dressed it up so all of the meatballs could act like he was kicking ass this year. He’s had moments/stretches like this, but maybe with the age he just sucks now but I bet he figures it out to at least be a 3.75-4.25 era guy for a good final stretch here Why?
