I don't doubt getting rid of an absolutely incompetent manager is one of the few cases where a manager can actually impact a team's success, but I seriously doubt something along the lines of, "man, I'm glad that THAT guy is gone and we all get along so great," is accounting for them playing at a, what, 110+ win-pace? And I especially doubt it's something that can keep up for more than another month. It seems mostly like several of their bats got hot at the same time.
