  1. It means released from our hearts.
  2. Friday night is big time annoying because it was super winnable, but the Cubs have been handling really good pitchers left and right lately, so writing off today already seems like jumping a bit far to a conclusion already.
  3. Gotcha. Well, still; I don't think Russell is stubborn enough to think he's a better option right now offensively, and that not getting much playing time as a starter is going to impact him detrimentally. Disappointed? Sure. But these guys are even more hyperaware than us when they're struggling.
  4. There is no Darvish...only Zuul.
  5. That's not losing his job; that's bringing in a rental to offset an injured player who can't hit worth a damn right now. that is a very odd distinction you're making. losing the starter role for the rest of the season counts as losing his job in the context of the post you replied to. it is very reasonable to assume that russell is not happy about primarily being a bench player for the rest of 2018. And I'm sure he's also not happy about how miserable he's been offensively and how he's been injured. Of course he'd rather be out there, but I also doubt he's worried that he's in any danger of "losing his job" beyond this season at this point. What's happening right now isn't much different than if he were just on the DL the rest of the way; it's clear Murphy's not coming back, and it's clear also that Theo and co. have, better or for worse, invested in Russell for the foreseeable future. The comment that kicked this off, IMO, made it sound more like a Castro-type situation, where you had a perpetually underperforming player with serious internal options right behind him.
  6. That's not losing his job; that's bringing in a rental to offset an injured player who can't hit worth a damn right now. the middle infield should clearly be murphy/baez the rest of the way, assuming murphy stays healthy and productive. if russell hasn't lost his starting job for the rest of the season, then it's because of joe being dumb. That's not losing his job; that's bringing in a rental to offset an injured player who can't hit worth a damn right now.
  7. You talking the remainder of this year? Have to think they stick with Murphy Baez up the middle Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk That's not losing his job; that's bringing in a rental to offset an injured player who can't hit worth a damn right now.
  8. Russell, for better or for worse, is not in danger of "losing his job." At least not via someone already with the Cubs.
  9. The guy just turned 24 3 weeks ago, he can play multiple positions well, and he's going to have put up 3+ fWAR in his first 250 games. He's not setting the world on fire, but to talk about him like he's a bust is a tad premature.
  10. I mean, that's a given. It's not like their approach is, "yup, that Happ kid has it allllllllllllll figured out."
  11. This seems like jumping the gun just a wee bit. Don’t disagree. It seems like he is one of the chips. Hasn’t been exactly killing it. This is a very confusing sequence of posts from you.
  12. Just sucks we will get nothing for him. This seems like jumping the gun just a wee bit.
  13. In a season where the Cubs are going to yet again win over 90 games, I inexplicably got to see a Luke Farrell start in person. What the horsefeathers.
  14. I look at it this way: they went through their worst stretch to this point and the Brewers managed to LOSE ground and the Cardinals only gained, what, 3 games, while playing WAY above their heads. Meanwhile the starting pitching has actually been looking better, the offense has been showing some life again, last night be damned, and Bryant is coming back. Hell, even Russell coming back has me cautiously optimistic about what he can do offensively having had even just a little extra extended time off to heal up a bit. Mitigate Joe's inane lineups and get out there and keep winning series and let things be as they should be.
  15. You say this like it's something they're not likely to be able to do.
  16. Granted, it's the weekend, but that last gif is pretty damn NSFW. Probably wanna at least bury it under spoiler tags. Also: when the horsefeathers did THAT happen on R&S?
  17. JudasBird, start a new winning streak or get the catapult.
  18. What a stupid, stupid game they should have won handily.
  19. Really, really would rather have something like Murphy-Zobrist-Rizzo-Baez on a night like this.
  20. Meanwhile, the dude who replaced him is reversed: 1.56 2.87 4.79
