That's not losing his job; that's bringing in a rental to offset an injured player who can't hit worth a damn right now. that is a very odd distinction you're making. losing the starter role for the rest of the season counts as losing his job in the context of the post you replied to. it is very reasonable to assume that russell is not happy about primarily being a bench player for the rest of 2018. And I'm sure he's also not happy about how miserable he's been offensively and how he's been injured. Of course he'd rather be out there, but I also doubt he's worried that he's in any danger of "losing his job" beyond this season at this point. What's happening right now isn't much different than if he were just on the DL the rest of the way; it's clear Murphy's not coming back, and it's clear also that Theo and co. have, better or for worse, invested in Russell for the foreseeable future. The comment that kicked this off, IMO, made it sound more like a Castro-type situation, where you had a perpetually underperforming player with serious internal options right behind him.
