  2. Most pre-season projections had the Cardinals being competitive, so yearning for them to just be spinning out in neutral yet again was likely going to be wishful thinking regardless.
  3. Are they more like a 90+ win team than a .500 win team? Sure. Are they closer to being a 110+ win team than a .500 team? Heck no. And this hot streak has been the latter, not the former.
  4. You are either being very self-aware or you’ve reached peak derwood
  5. [expletive], Nick Markakis and Kurt Suzuki hitting back to back in the middle of a lineup of a competitive team in 2018 is kinda nuts.
  6. GASP. They got the run in! Will they dare to get in....TWO?!?
  7. Well, this inning is off to an intriguing start.
  8. That lineup is gonna slay villains and make babies.
  9. Turns out Carpenter was sick last night because he was mildly poisoned by the tainted anonymous salsa he sent to Bryant.
  10. I don't doubt getting rid of an absolutely incompetent manager is one of the few cases where a manager can actually impact a team's success, but I seriously doubt something along the lines of, "man, I'm glad that THAT guy is gone and we all get along so great," is accounting for them playing at a, what, 110+ win-pace? And I especially doubt it's something that can keep up for more than another month. It seems mostly like several of their bats got hot at the same time.
  11. If a big component of fearing the Cardinals is something as nebulous as "much improved chemistry"...then I'm not really fearing the Cardinals.
  12. Carpenter left the game because he felt like he was gonna barf.
  13. Nah; it's obviously not impossible for the Cardinals to actually win the division, but it really hinges on them continuing to play around a 110 win season-pace if the Cubs can even manage to just be OK the rest of the way. It's trivial, IMO, in the sense that it's likely going to take something like another critical injury on the Cubs to cause that to happen.
  14. Bruh, you're talking like the Yankees have a shot, too.
  15. Fangraphs says the Cardinals currently have a 7.2% chance to win the division. For comparison, they have the Yankees with an 8.4% shot.
