  1. I would like a rainout, the Brewers lose, we then sweep and lead by seven in the loss column by Wednesday night. Yeah, at this point I just want tomorrow rained out early on. Then there's not a game until Monday night and they're back home. Get back to Wrigley still in first regardless of the Brewers winning or losing last night night, and then take care of business knowing there's a normal off day finally at the end of that series.
  2. now this is my brand of erratic anger Oh, it's very consistent; he'll I'd probably want them to lose even more if I was riding high off of a satisfying Cubs win right now.
  3. I hope the Bears get absolutely annihilated.
  4. I really don't care to stay up and see what happens with tonight's debacle of a game; philosophizer75, you're up if they lose. Ding Dong Johnson, you're the backup in case he doesn't show in time...if there's even a game tomorrow.
  5. That's still cracking me up; a red-assed, hobo-looking weirdo who everyone associates with a division rival ends up on their Wall of Honor or whatever the horsefeathers because he had a whopping two good seasons with them out of a massive 7-year contract. It would be like the Cubs retiring Soriano's number, except Soriano was at least a chill dude.
  6. I'm hoping his struggles this year are mostly the result of nagging injury issues.
  7. Hahahah! Joe just throwing whatever he can out there.
  8. I still don’t think this will come to fruition. I expect us to take the series at Wrigley coming up. The Nats were always gonna give us trouble in their home park, no matter what. They got up 4-0 with Hamels on the mound. Gotta win those games late in the season like this. And against an absolutely garbage pitcher, too. Caratini's home run was adorable, but it was a complete fluke, and they looked hopeless otherwise.
  9. I still don’t think this will come to fruition. I expect us to take the series at Wrigley coming up. The Nats were always gonna give us trouble in their home park, no matter what. The only reason to assume that is because ANY team conceivably could give the Cubs trouble at this point, since the Nationals are an ass team at this point.
  10. This team's doing horsefeathers all in the playoffs.
  11. God, these games horsefeathering suck so much.
  12. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck, I thought it was the 8th.
  13. Gameday is stuck with one ball to Almora and La Stella still as the baserunner. Great.
  14. Yeeeeesh. What a ridiculous game/inning.
  15. He's gonna just have to keep shoveling fastballs down the middle and hope for the best against KABOOM.
  16. Please get him out of there. It's kinda baffling how anyone in the bullpen would have been, like, "yup, he looks good to go."
  17. And likely 2 starting Monday’s series with the Brewers, in that scenario. Every post you make is somehow coyly hinting at the weather without ever talking about the weather. It’s quite amazing really He's right this time; it's not less than a 75% chance of rain until 5 PM tomorrow, and even then it's 50% until 9. They do kinda need to take this one somehow.
  18. I'm a half hour away from the stadium, and it is an absolute deluge out here right now.
  19. Like I said before, we don't have many relaxing games. There will be more nervous moments to come in this one. We really don’t. Even the ones where we have big leads we usually allow the teams to come back enough to where we have to have our good relievers come in and save us Yeah, it must be confirmation bias, but it feels like so many games they'll have 1 inning where they score, like, 3-5 runs, but then that's it. And then even if the starter for the Cubs does well and goes 6 and only gives up 2-3, Joe's bullpen woes are amplified because he has to burn through relievers in what should be a relatively easy win. I always come back to how it really seems as simplistic as being because their slugging is so relatively slow this season. If they had hit just, say, 25 more dongs (really not unreasonable given their roster; that would still only have them 11th in HR), it would have made a decent difference.
  20. Also: Bote is the new Daryle Ward.
  21. They really can't afford anyone else getting hurt at this point. It's a struggle to put out a lineup that isn't half garbage each day.
  22. I don't think confidence is going to do much if it's because he has the shoulders of a horsefeathering mummy these days.
