  1. I heard you like bad free agent signings, so I replaced your bad free agent signings with even more bad free agent signings.
  2. The only thing that annoys me about the Brewers' moves is that they snagged Yelich. I really, really, really wanted the Cubs to end up with him once he was obviously available, and there was no reason to not go all out on him, even with the Harper plan.
  3. Yeah, it's more of a collection of a LOT of things going wrong in the short run than, IMO, things looking bleak for the long run. Sure, guys like Happ and (especially) Almora might just suck as everyday player options, but a lot of things had to horsefeathers up for it to get to the point of needing them to play this much. Sign Harper next year and relegate one or both of them to platoon and/or backup roles and things are likely fine (barring a bunch of injuries again). This all looks more like an unfortunate cascading effect of a bunch of things going wrong at the same time as opposed to, "oh horsefeathers; the team actually sucks."
  4. Man, I hope so. Less than 2 weeks ago they had a 5 game lead, so a lot can swing in that time. Hopefully at least a couple of these guys bust out of their slumps.
  5. Duke, if he doesn't show by noon tomorrow, it's all yours.
  6. sweetpeteman, you're gonna be up for this bastard makeup game in DC.
  7. I don't care how meatball-y it is; I kinda want the whole coaching staff gone.
  8. The Cubs are now 11th in slugging....right behind the Brewers. They are now 21st in dongs. Killed by horsefeathers power.
  9. And then they get to go right to the pit of suck that is Arizona. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
  10. This is such a lame, lame slow motion implosion. They don't even have the decency to just horsefeathers the bed and, like, drop 8 in a row.
  11. The Nats, of course, have won 5 in a row.
  12. That weak ground out in a 2-0 count sell you? I mean yes Contreras hasn’t been good for a month+ but Caratini has literally never been good except for like the smallest of sample sizes you want to pick. Caratini's a better framer, yes? I don't think by amazing leaps and bounds, but I kinda would prefer to see the guy who arguably is going to best help the pitchers when the offense is this bad. Willson's shown zero indication that he's going to turn it around any time soon with the bat, and outside of being able to gun down guys on the bases sometimes, I'm struggling to see why he NEEDS to be in there. Seriously, we're splitting hairs as to which one is less impressive offensively in the second half: .216 .318 .306 .624 .242 .292 .348 .640 It's...sad.
  13. Team looks dead. Crowd sounds dead. I feel dead.
  14. There's really no point in the day tomorrow where the chance of rain is much worse than 30% right now, so there's unfortunately really nothing preventing the game from being held and the team being able to fly out afterwards, even if there is a delay.
  15. Yeah, but far more catastrophic is that I probably now won't get Friday off, either. What a rip.
  16. Damn; that game in DC is pretty much definitely gonna happen at this point.
