  1. Nice, Neifi. Real effin' nice. The man needs to be fined every time he doesn't take a first pitch.
  2. What's the strike zone look like on TV? Like it's been said, Gameday has almost all of the balls right around the edge of the zone.
  3. Dudes, if the Braves hadn't been clogging the bases, they could have obviously had 4-5 runs instead of just 1, dude.
  4. It was a funny and rather badass at the time, but now it just makes me sad. Granted, the guy was probably pissed at himself for serving that 3-run shot to a Black Sox cast off ham 'n' egger, but at the same time, how often have you seen Greg frickin' Maddux driven to such frustration and anger? That's a bad sign.
  5. I was driving home from a friend's house after watching game 7 in 2003...it was a party, a lot of people were bummed, I tried joking around, getting mad, etc., etc. just to try and pick my friends' spirits up. Finally went home at about 2-3 in the morning...driving along the highway about 2 minutes from home and had to all of a sudden pull to the side and weep. And I MEAN "weep." Like sobbing and choking and yelling and punching the seat. I've never in my life felt a moment of such pure sadness and rage at the same time. It was a good 10 minutes before I could drive again.
  6. I don't hate Dubois...I just think he was massively overrated by the Cubs and it bit them in the butt when it came time to deal. On the flipside, I think Murton is tremendously overrated here...but I think he'll have a better all-around career than Dubois.
  7. Streght, IMO, is something easier to build up and use over time than having to pretty much readjust how you hit the ball altogether. Murton I think has shown he has it in him...he's a perfect candidate to pair up with a good hitting coach and be molded into a very good all around hitter. Dubois was pretty much just power, and even that was pretty spotty.
  8. I'll be his bestest buddy forever and only say nice things if he picks up the tab.
  9. Dubois will have a nice, unremarkable career as a DH. Murton, if he's salvaged by some coaches who aren't morons, has the potential to be an excellent and varied offensive threat. Man, anyone else see history repeating itself with Hill? Like Dubois, another guy Hendry could have scored HUGE on if dealt, yet both are proving to be spectacuarly unremarkable as time goes on. How can a GM be SO unaware of these things?
  10. Prior "pitching scared" sounds about right given what the guy has gone through, in terms of injuries, bad coaches and the flat-out bad team he is on now. The guy's mind is probably his own worst enemy. I'm all for using this year as a full time rehab session for him if it means getting him back at or damn close to 100% next year. Use a healthy Prior and Z as your aces and build around them.
  11. Man, talk about Hendry being Hendry. If there's any truth to this, why the hell didn't they shop him seriously in the off season, when the injury issue would have been infinitely less glaring? Obviously Prior is mangled and broken far, FAR worse than anyone is clarifying if they're taking offers already without him pitching a single inning. So either he's traded WAY under-valued and the Cubs get robbed, or we're stuck with a Prior on half-empty most of or all of the year with no relief in sight. He needs to come back and be a dynamo fast or the Cubs need to totally shut him down indefinitely and figure what's wrong and how to fix it, either to make him the #1 pitcher on this team he needs to be or te be traded for a player or players with real impact. This whole thing has been Hendrified.
  12. Fred, you are a friend to all creatures big and small. Bless you, good sir...bless you.
  13. That was very kind of Murton, taking the "bullet" of the DP so Neifi wouldn't have to hit into it.
  14. http://mlb.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_400021.jpg Dude...lay off the "tweed" when it's picture day.
  15. Comedian Jim Norton: http://www.laughmachine.com/images/Bios/J/jim_norton.jpg Miguel Cabrera: http://mlb.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_408234.jpg Somebody get these men some chins!
  16. What happened? Text message..."I heart U, actual leadoff hitter! Come play for my crappy team!"

  18. I thought Pierre would do very well...I thought Aramis would have a monster year...I thought Murton would do a LOT better. I thought Prior would have started at least 4-5 times at this point...I thought Jerome Williams would have done fine as a starter, nothing too flashy...
  19. Baltimore: Established trading history with Hendry, could really use some quality starters to take advantage of having Mazzone in house; their closer is looking fantastic, but the bridge from starter to closer is non-existent.
  20. NOMAR-NOMAR-NOMAR-NOMAR. STARTING PITCHING-STARTING PITCHING-STARTING PITCHING.
