  1. Er... "One of these things is not like the other..." MojoPin, great sig ... that's how I feel as I look at Nomar's line after 108 AB this year: AVG .370 OBP .430 SLG .657 OPS 1.087 The sad thing, it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Dude showed he could hit when he came back last year...
  2. Er... "One of these things is not like the other..."
  3. I don't have any tools, but I AM a tool, so I call being the GM.
  4. On an upside, I usually try and time my workout for the day when baseball is on, and if it's the Cubs, it ends my making me work that much harder out of sheer fury. At this rate, I'll be in the best shape of my life by the ASB!
  5. Damn right. Walker is one of the last guys that needs to be traded unless he helps net you a proven sure thing.
  6. Not nearly enough. Honestly, that's almost insulting given the player we're talking about here. The lone prospect you're offering up would pretty much have to be Marshall, and there's no way they want him without Wood or Prior coming along, too. Without a starter, you'd probably have to package Marshall, Hill and Guzman, and maybe even Ryu, too. Or hell, with the Yanks bullpen troubles, maybe Williamson. I highly doubt the Yankees are even close to shopping A-Rod, but that's not say they wouldn't trade if somebody offered them the right deal.
  7. Man, I am wallowing in 2-4 simultaneously. I think I need the sweep tonight to finally break on through to 5.
  8. Hendry is on the phone all the time....the problem is, it's just to order his 67th meal of the day. Get it? Because he's fat? LOL!!111!!!!!11!111!!1!!11 *Weeps*
  9. I keep reading on various blogs about how nearly statistically impossible it is for even this Cubs team to be the most losing-est MLB team of all team...but I cannot, no matter how hard I try, picture these mutss winning 50 games, much less 70+. And that's with a healthy Lee. The pitchers coming back or getting back to form are moot...this offense can't win unless the starters go at least 6 full innings and keep the opposing team to 1 or 0 runs. Anything more and they're doomed.
  10. When the pre-game show starts, they should just play the score from the opening assassination scene in JFK. It'll get everyone in an appropriate mood.
  11. Masked in that you didn't have anywhere near the amount of frustration and sheer rage expressed over this team that you're seeing now. Lee's achievements were a huge distraction...it's not like the 2006 team's crappiness came out of nowhere. The seeds of failure were planted in 2004, and 2005 I think would have met the response we're seeing now had it not been for Lee coming out of nowhere. The management and owners gambled that they could bring Lee back, and he and Ramriez together would be enough to again put a bandage on a gaping head wound, and it blew up in their faces. This would have no doubt happened last year had Lee stuck at his career levels, when the management were gambling Nomar would be the big bat they needed besides Ramirez. This team and its owners are going to drag their heels to do any major changes until the last possible moment, and it's only now they're finally being backed into a corner.
  12. No kidding. Hendry, show some stones and at least gives Clines, Sarge and Rothschild the boot, or at least ONE of them, if you're gonna be a total [expletive] and keep Dusty on.
  13. In a way, Derrek's spectacular year in 2005 might have been the worst possible thing to happen with this team since it masked all of deepening flaws enough so THIS seaon is unleashed on us. Yeah, a lot of people were pointing things out from 2004 and on, but gee, that Lee and his bat, it made it so much easier for most to ignore the real problems.
  14. Come to the dark side, Scott...root for the sweep...only by truly hitting rock bottom will this team have even a slight chance of crawling back up...
  15. Man, I forgot how ugly that year was. So does that mean 2007 will randomly kick ass?
  16. Knowing these idiots, now that I want them to lose, they'll win in spectacular fashion, like they did against the Sox. So with that in mind...SURELY THE CUBS WILL CRUSH THE MARLINS! GO FORTH, MIGHTY WARRIORS! TO VICTORY! Die, Baker! Die, die, die, die, DIE!!!
  17. At this point, I think the promise of young, cheap, decent pitching might be enough with a couple young bats. Turn Aramis into Cedeno, Murton and maybe sing or Dope plus Wood or Prior and the prospects and that could do it.
  18. Sad but true. See Sammy being held onto a couple seasons too long for the best recent example. Trade smart...it would be a nice change of pace. Get to the luxury of being in the position where you can be a cozy home for your old favorites as they slow down...byt becoming a contending team! Until then, sliding veterans held on just to appease the halfhearted tourists are just indicative of the never ending cycle of futility.
  19. God, I wanna see this bad. And even if it did happen, you know Hendry would sit back and think he was done...hell no! Shoot for the moon! Go and try and sign Carlos Lee, or trade for Cabrera! Fix this damn team!
  20. Please don't use "Baker" and "Hendry" and "hot spurt" in the same sentence. Ew.
  21. I honestly just feel bad for JP at this point. The guy had a reasonably impressive career and he's just plummeted right over the edge, and all things indicate he works his butt off and is a great presence with his teammates and the fans. Yeah, I know that kinda stuff gets frowned on, but I prefer to see the jerks fail utterly as opposed to the "good guys."
  22. Dear Lord in Heaven, if you have even a shred of mercy, please let the Marlins sweep this pitiful excuse for a team. PLEASE. I know they're mine, but only absolute and utter and humiliating failure will even come close to allowing any positive change to happen. Let them be swept by the Marlins, the Braves, and then pounded brutally hard into dead last in the Central. Please...have mercy on us all. For once.
  23. BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAH!!! Suck on it, Hendry. You too, MacPhail. And you most of all, Dusty. I hope you all choke as bad as your team.
  24. I'll take a fastball to the sack before I watch soccer on TV. Time to mow the lawn! (For the record, I think soccer is a fine sport and still love playing it to this day...I simply cannot watch it on TV. It's like I'm allergic to it.)
