  1. OK, Marshall held the opposing team to a single run for 7 full innings. One. Just the one. What more can you ask of a starting pitcher besides allowing them to score none? Except even that's not enough, since this team can't even manage a run themselves. And this is happening again and again this season. So what if Prior and Wood pitch like Prior and Wood? This cesspool of an offense will implode behind them and they'll probably get 1 win out of every 4 or so they SHOULD get. At best, a healthy Wood and Prior keep this team from losing 100 games. Whoopedee-doo. Unless they also come back clubbing the ball like He-Man, pitchin' don't score runs. And Lee is just one guy. He's not going to do what he did last year. Ideally, he'll hit around .310, if he's healthy. That's helpful, and they'll probably win a few extra games, but nothing significant that's even close to resembling a run. Lee can't put guys on base ahead of him, and the inevitable tandem of Womack and Pierre is gonna suck just as bad with Lee behind them as it does now.
  2. Wilford Brimley is on the horse.
  3. There is no chance Pierre would accept arbitration. There is still a team stupid enough to give him a multiyear deal out there. have you seen his numbers? Hendry is far from being the only stupid GM out there. It's not like Neifi Perez magically didn't exist until the Cubs inexplicably fell in love with him. I swear they just pull up at the bus depot sometimes and sign whoever they lure into the car with a sandwich.
  4. He's the next Babe Ruth.
  5. The estimated price and years are a bit steep, but if he can be had for 4 or less years and under $50 million, rock on. What are his Wrigley numbers? And like it was said, trades within a divison ain't no thang if one of the teams involved has almost zero chance of competing at the time...ie- the Cubs. If the trade benefits the Beer Boys and helps them get out of stalled, they're potentially in a spot to push for the WC. C. Lee to the Cubs this year would be cool, but let's be honest...it ain't nearly enough to push THIS team anywhere near being a threat to anyone except the Pirates.
  6. It's far beyond that now, as today's game very explicitly proves. Who cares if they pitch like their old selves? Look what this team does when the pitching keeps the opponents to one freakin' run! Look how many times they've been shut out!
  7. He does. While sitting in Carlos' lap.
  8. Bo knows that Dusty Baker is an idiot.
  9. I hate not being able to detect sarcasm over the internet.
  10. Eleventy billion. And Rusch eats twice as many fatburgers afterwards as he weeps like a little girl AKA a Chicago Cub.
  11. God, the no swearing rule is killing me today.
  12. They need 3. The really good teams need 3 really big threats. Not necessarily 3 superstars, but 3 legit threats, like a Ramirez, Lee, somebody kind of thing. In a perfect world? Damn right. Right now, I'd settle for having 2 instead of just 1 we lucked into and may or may not ever be able to be in that role ever again.
  13. I take back everything even remotely nice I said about these pathetic filthpigs.
  14. http://funnypics.free.fr/explorer/public/gifs/you%20suck%20ad-mormons.gif
  15. Given the putt-putt course they're playing in, that's about all the hope they have.
  16. All the time, Tip. *Nods* We on award tour, with cheapseats my man...
  17. Dammit, don't scare me like that. *Diabolical guffaw*
  18. Aardvark is in to rock the joint. Hopefully some more Marmint action tomorrow!
  19. Dusty' team can sac bunt with 0 outs! ?? Shhhh. He's on a roll.
  20. I don't know which member of this organization I want to loathe more...I'm like a kid in some kind of a store!
  21. funny how that's the only thing Steve Stone could think of to say that is positive about the current Cubs. Well, there's really not much positive about this team.... Except the fact that they could win there 3rd series in a row when they win today vs the Reds, Card and "stros! But they won't.
