  1. I'm sure they have had some time of baseball experience in terms day to day baseball operations. This guy has done nothing but scalp tickets and peddle beanie babies in the Cubs organization. I know most of us are frustrated and wallowing in negativity, but Christ, man...do you ever let this schtick up?
  2. Why has Dierker not been hired by anyone in the last 5 years? Or why hasn't he managed in that time? Why would he suddenly change his mind for the Cubs?
  3. I'd trade Murton for an upgrade in the OF, a la Dunn, Cabrera, Andruw Jones, etc.. It makes no sense to trade him for a non-OFer.

  6. He has? Nobody forced him to make the countless boneheaded decisions/lineups he came up with time and time again.
  7. As long as he's traded smartly for a real upgrade, he can do whatever he wants wherever he wants. I like the guy and he's been pretty good, but there seems to be quite a few people who are on the verge of declaring him "untradeable." I agree. . . . all depends on what we could get for him. If you were a GM what would you give for someone like Murton? I think he could be the centerpiece to a Andruw Jones and Tim Hudson deal. Sold.
  8. Fred, you're a brave, brave man. Thanks for all the work.

  10. Fixed.
  11. If he somehow ends up being a starter, I want this etched on a bronze plate and hung above his locker.
  12. I've always been confused how a guy can't be judged for a job based on 100+ AB's during the regular season, but he can be judged for a job based on fewer ABs during the spring. Why is regular season performance less valuable than spring training performance when judging a young player's ability? Exactly. Otherwise Angel Pagan might be the best player the Cubs have right now. Oh, wait.
  13. I just wanna see Miller do well and spare us on the change purse.
  14. Good for Nomar and Maddux. Great players who deserve better than the crap the Cubs would have fed 'em.
  15. Dodgers vs. Yankees.
  16. He should be given a chance to compete, sure, and short of being a complete disaster he's earned being the main middle infield backup. I'd still take Soriano over him a million times over. The Riot will get plenty of chances to spell for the brittle Izturis.
  17. I'd still want Soriano for 2nd, but why not move The Riot over to short?
  18. Not to derail the thread, and I'm sure you've answered this elsewhere, but why hasn't Dierker managed at all in the last 5 years? I know about the seizure and brain surgery in, what, '99? 2000? But didn't he manage the Astros for another year or two after that? Why'd he stop managing after 2001? Or to put it another way, why is nobody hiring him? According to this, it may be Dierker's choice: Dierker has a blog which you can find here. So why would he accept an offer to manage the Cubs?
  19. $85 million. $70 million the year after.
  20. Willis is very good but vastly overrated. He's a series of DL stints waiting to happen with his mechanics/delivery.

  22. Soriano you have to give up money to get. Tejada you have to give an arm and leg to get in the first place and then you can toss a pile of money at him. No thanks. If the Cubs are gonna sell the farm, aim higher.
  23. That's an awful, awful deal. You don't trade that much for an aging player on the backend of his career and another player who'll crumble the instant he shows up at Wrigley and screws up ANYTHING. And it's still not enough of an offensive upgrade for this team.
  24. I'd love Jacque if he was platooned with Craig Wilson and not hitting higher than 6th in the lineup.
