  1. Gives up a triple and hits 2 batters to load the bases with 1 out and then stikes out the next 2 batters looking with some nasty sliders on the outside corner.
  2. That was just one example of many. The greatest legitimate home run hitter of all time, Hank Aaron, never hit 50 home runs in a season but Brady Anderson did. I guess you're right, the steroid era didn't skew the stats at all. I realize it's tough to admit that the baseball you have watched most of your life has been tainted by steroids but it is what it is. And Hank Aaron took greenies, so was he really legit? Jaywalking and armed robbery are both violations of the law. Are they both equally bad? Evidently greenies don't help you hit home runs or maybe Hank Aaron would have had as many 50 home runs seasons as the great Brady Anderson. Brady Anderson had one amazing year in a career of mediocrity. Boo-hoo.
  3. Gargh. Can't believe Thomas tanked that wide open shot.
  4. Theriot needs to bat 8th. why? Because hes not that good? among regulars he led the team in both average and obp last year. if that's "not that good" then what are the rest of the players? better convincing argument. theriot is good in his own ways, and obviously has deficiencies as well. but to say that the guy who got on base more than every other player on the team last year "isn't that good" is just stupid. Ok, who do you think Theriot is a better hitter than for the 2009 season? Fukudome. The Theriot hate could be the most obnoxious thing on this board. How is it "obnoxious" if it's based on legitimate criticisms like his complete lack of power, his subpar defensive skills and his bad baserunning? These are all things that are extension of his play in the minors, so what are the odds he's suddenly going to shake any one of them from this point on? The guy has his use on the team, but the Cubs have several players who are either obviously or argubaly much more productive in the 1-2 spots than Theriot.
  5. no and his stolen base percentage in the bigs is 76.8%, there's nothing wrong with that. There's a lot wrong with that.
  6. Actually, he made a very good point that pertained directly to the conversation.
  7. Of all the games worthy of this kind of hyperbole, last night's was most certainly not one of them.
  8. Pretty classy. With my first glace, I found it pretty easy to navigate, so I guess that's a good sign.
  9. How much less? None more less?
  10. Word is that the Nationals might void the contract of 19 year old Esmailyn Gonzalez for, well, not being 19 years old...and not being Esmailyn Gonzalez. The last person that crossed Esmailyn Gonzalez...was Esmailyn Gonzalez.
  11. Probably not likely to happen with the ages in your example.
  12. Boy, the Dodgers better hire some extra staff to handle the flood of calls about to come in.
  13. Is this epic battle of Good vs. Good the prophecy's told us about, can the universe handle such a confrontation? The upside down, backwards visor wearing turdablls dream matchup. He can use hip adjectives like "wicked" and whine at the same time. "YES! What a wicked pitch by Marmol! JESUS, Soto! What are you swinging at?!!!" "YES! I gotta text Justin-Tyler (also sometimes referred to as J-Tie when I'm feeling oh so hip-hop) Soto got all of it! CHRIST, Carlos, WTF was that?!!!!!" What? Did you just drop a Whopper on the keyboard?
  14. So why continue to subject yourself to "this place?" Pretty much all you've done since joining is pick fights, insult other posters and complan about how stupid everyone is and how awful this board is. Do yourself a favor. exhibit b. actually i haven't done any of that. at all. that's pretty offensive for you to say when it's completely untrue. i like this board. it's educational and a good place to talk baseball. but posts like the one i replied to bring it down so much, and unfortunately posts like that aren't exactly uncommon here. Just keep the blinders on as you barrel on through another rant in yet another thread.

  16. Worlds colliding. Our universe is doomed.
  17. The one time you went to the game there it was terrible. Imagine that forming an opinion on limited information. Actually, I've been to 7 games there, but thanks. Imagine forming an opinion about my opinion based on such limited information.
  18. Yeah, this is honestly the first time I've heard someone say that the Marlins' current stadium is in a good location. Having been there myself, I'm sort of terrified to see what CubinNY thinks is a bad location.
  19. omg, do you have a learning disability? no one is saying the cubs shouldn't have traded hill or that hill is currently awesome at pitching. omg srsly? lol my bff. where did i say anything like that? how about.... nowhere? if you're going to respond to my post... please actually respond to the post. In the above quoted post. The implication of "sticking up for him" is supposed to mean...what? Nobody is going out of their way to defend him when they simply point out what he was able to do before he flopped. and what's the point of pointing out what he was able to do before he became a guy who couldn't throw strikes? when someone says "god rich hill really sucks now" is it really necessary to have the same people over and over come and say "yeah well look what he did in 2007!!!" who cares what he did then? he's beyond pathetic now. cut the cord. Because it's gone beyond that to "he was never good," which simply isn't the case. That's what's being argued against. Nobody is propping up Hill now as some sure thing or trying to defend his performances over the last year. The issue is taken with the ridiculous argument along the lines that he was "never good" If this discussion frustrates you so much, it should be reasonably easy for you to avoid a thread clearly labelled to be about Hill.
  20. Actually, it's not. Guys are able to sustain inflated careers and contracts on far less. this is stupid. baseball is a sport of longevity. if a guy says that he played pro ball for a year and a half, you would say that he was a pro baseball player for a very brief period? would you not? same thing. It's not the same thing, because we don't know yet if his career is done. And you're right about it being asport of longevity...hence why having sustained and noticeable success for a full season and the second half of the season before that IS impressive. That's not a brief period of time.

  23. Probably because what you're ranting about isn't happening. There's an obvious difference between pointing out that the guy did have sustained success and wasn't a total failure his entire time as a Cub, as some seem to want to show, and declaring that he's "the greatest Cub ever."
