    Awful. I could see trying him at #4 or even #5, but #6 is just pissing away AB's. Lee is natural 2 at his age/skills. Bradley and Ramirez are a natural 3-4. Soto and Soriano are more or less interchangeable at 5-6 (if consider Soriano's natural age 33 decline and Soto's age 25 rise). You're welcome to disagree, but calling it 'awful' is reactionary and discredits your contribution. By stating 'pissing away AB's' your basically saying Soriano is measurably and obviously better than any of Bradley, Ramirez, or Soto at 4 or 5, and that simply isn't true. Soriano likely produces the lowest OPS of the bunch in '09, if only by a small margin (I expect all 4 guys to be in the .860-.900 range). soriano is a much better hitter than theriot, so i'd rather get him the extra 60+ at bats at the top of the order Stop with the crazy talk, you madman.

    there are varying degrees of light hitting backup catchers. Bako is the worst of the worst. Blanco actually provided something with the bat. he's definitely not, but if it makes you feel better to say that then power to you. Not only is next to useless offensively, he's also very old. Nobody expects a backup catcher to be stellar and that they often tend to be veterans, but come on.

    Ugh. Would have liked to see the Cubs try to bring him back as a LOOGY reliever. God only knows what new depressing mediocrity his spot is now open for.

    Cheating = awesome baseball. I love pretty much any form of baseball cheating, steroids included, though I miss the abundance of amphetamines far more than anything else. The game is in a much sorrier place without them.

    Yes, a lineup that gets Aaron Miles and Ryan Theriot significantly more AB's than Soriano and Lee is a recipe for success. I smell dynasty!

    Between Marquis, DeRosa and this move it is all just too coincidental. Even if it doesn't happen I can't help but think that Hendry is taking a calculated risk and putting all the pieces in place so he can pull the trigger quickly once the sale is complete if he gets the necessary approvals. Seems like it. I think he's banking on the new owner approving a trade that so obviously improves the team.

    no, of course he's not. no one is suggesting anything in that ridiculous scenario. i think the notion that he's spending "hours upon hours" working out is equally as absurd, though. knowing the mark prior that we all got to know in his brief time in the cubs organization, i cant see the guy busting his ass to get back. dont you think that he'd be back and healthy by now if he had tried busting his ass in the past? it's a pretty fundamental approach. to getting healthy, that is. We aren't talking about a guy with weight issues who needs to get on the treadmill. We're talking about a guy who withstood serious abuse by a horrible manager and who sustained very serious arm injuries in the process. You can't just decide to bounce back from those things with extra effort. sure you can. you either commit yourself to do something or you don't. i'm questioning his commitment. i don't doubt that he wants to be a major league pitcher for one second. i do, however, doubt his effort to do so. This is nonsensical. Did you just completely ignore what was spelled out for you? How does one "commit" to "do" an undiagnosed shoulder problem, a basepath collision and a line drive off the elbow? You're talking like he can just will himself to overcome those if he just "tries" harder.

    hours upon hours? definitely not. i'd be surprised if he works out daily at this point. Man the class of 2008 users is quite prolific. the northsidebaseball welcome wagon sure is full of great guys! LIVE TO WIN.
