I think I'd rather have Dewitt instead of Johnson.

Dewitt's better than all of the the Cubs' other 2B options right now. Yeah, not really saying much, but given how young and cheap he is I'd have no problem taking him on.

Eh, he's definitely a hell of a lot better than Theriot this year, he's 6 years younger and he's a lot cheaper.

But why? This isn't like basketball where horrible bad can lead to an amazing draft pick that can help immediately start turning your team around. Yeah, the higher pick is nice, but steering a baseball team to be "horrible bad" is a horrible plan. It just mires the team in crap for years to come, which heavily impacts revenue and further impedes efforts to improve the team. Draft picks are too much of a gamble to expressly "go for horrible bad."

What a silly comparison. Asik and Gibson vs. a guy was a game-changing starter. Again, he can talk all he wants; he has to back it up.

Who has that in their minds? I just don't care that he states that he wants to be a starter. He should want to be a starter. He still has to demonstrate that he has anything left before he could do so, and he was saying all of this before a deal was signed. It would be the decision of anyone interested in him whether or not he could be talked into a bench role and whether or not he's even worth being signed for a bench role. If he wants to talk up his game, who gives a [expletive]? He still has to show he can back it up and it sounds like he can't even do that showing off to prospective signers.

I think I made it pretty clear that it's ok for him to want to be a starter. I just said it wasn't smart of him to publically state that his aim is to be a starter when the team you are trying to sign with has already reportedly had concerns about him accepting a role player type position with the team. Unless the quotes were taken out of context, I guarantee you that his quotes were not received well in the Bulls org. And that's what I was saying. Jeez you jump to conclusions without even reading other posts. That's still a ridiculous conclusion, and yes, you're a crybaby, as anyone who's read even just two posts by you about any of the teams you cry over. Any player's goal should be to be a starter. It's asinine to expect someone to say otherwise. In what universe do you dwell where you expect players to come out and say "yeah, I really think my ceiling is being a bench player." Did you get wood when Corey Patterson said he thought he'd make a great #6 hitter?
