  1. Yes I would. I'm tired of them losing their ace and winning the world series. They did it in 06 and they're possibly going to do it again this year. Why would it be better if they were better?
  2. There was huge, gigantic news, but we're just so cool we act like nothing happened.
  3. So you'd feel better if they won the WS after dominating the regular season handily and then sweeping through the playoffs uncontested?
  4. "Could be an injury; could be that he's traded; could be something else entirely."
  5. Crawford's contract gets better if the Red Sox send some money over, but purely on each contract as it is now I don't think Crawford's is that much better than Soriano's. Crawford has more value than Soriano right this minute yes, but he's already 30 and is signed for the next six years at more money each year (I think) than any one of Soriano's. I could see the argument that it's better to push back the awful years that are inevitable for both players, but the risk is that there will be more (both in terms of cost and length) for Crawford. Crawford isn't quite the predictable disaster that Soriano was. Right. Doesn't have the "highs" that Soriano was once able to achieve, but much less of a flawed hitter and a much better defender. A lot of Crawford's value is going to come from his speed, but it declining isn't going to turn him into a one-dimensional player like Soriano.
  6. http://twitter.com/#!/CarrieMuskat/status/124981880897540096 Muskat vs. Kaplan: everyone loses.
  7. Not to defend Kaplan, but how much does the player's team's say-so fit into them playing in something like that? Maybe since the Red Sox technically didn't OK it and he's now being traded he was pulled. Just spitballing; I have zero clue if that's right or not.
  8. You're also getting the two better players. Yeah, no kidding. You're basically eating the Lackey contract if you have to to have LF locked down for the next 6 years by Crawford.
  9. lol, i dont think that's how it works, kaplan Imagine how he was licking the spittle out of his goatee as he typed that.
  10. I've got so many teardrop tats and Band-Aids on my face you can't even see my face anymore.
  11. It's a message board. It's a place of discussion, banter and debate. If you want just updates without said activities then pull up your [expletive] pants and go to any one of the zillions of sports blogs and news sites that simply report rumors and news. I move that the staff create locked update threads for events like this that only they can update so as to shut up the whiners and the rest of us can bull [expletive] in peace.

  13. 43% of the jackassery afoot is his doing. I crunched the numbers with science. What? It's gotta be higher then that. Again, stop obsessing over me guys and get back on track with the thread subject. Viewed through TWAR it's very impressive.
  14. See? Even tight lipped owner John Henry is essentially admitting Epstein is a Cub. So for the few of you that are worried this won't happen, stop. NO WAY, MAN, THAT GUY IS CRA-HAY-HAY-ZAY! HE CAN DO ANYTHING!
  15. 43% of the jackassery afoot is his doing. I crunched the numbers with science.
  16. Permanent. I feel like 2/3rds of the top 25 non-mod posters on NSBB would be disqualified if you counted temporary bans. Who among us hasn't enjoyed a temporary ban at some point in NSBB's history? :bye: Me. Keep the insults veiled and sarcastic and you're good. Hmmm, this might change things.
  17. I hated it when it was signed. And going after him isn't what people hate. It's his contract, which you admit was ridiculous. Eh, not really all that ridiculous in terms of how you're automatically overpaying for talent. It wasn't the best signing given how much of his value comes from his defense, but monetarily he was going to be "technically" underpaid per year based on the two monster seasons he had prior to 2011. Yeah, it's pretty easy to argue that it's too big a contract, but it's likely not a Soriano or Ryan Howard-type monster.
  18. Hill's dWAR with the Cubs: -0.4 Soto's: -0.2
  19. How about Geo Soto too? Hm... no thanks? He's 29 years old and he isn't good behind the plate or at the plate. He hit .202 with RISP last year in 114 at-bats. Why do you believe he isn't good behind the plate? Is it because that is the only reason you can justify Koye Hill being played? He didn't hit well in any situation last year FTH? This Soto tangent is very, very un-Theo.
  20. How about Geo Soto too? Hm... no thanks? He's 29 years old and he isn't good behind the plate or at the plate. He hit .202 with RISP last year in 114 at-bats. Sir, you're not off to a good start here. My CubsGM-sense is starting to tingle...
  21. I'm not pretending. Then that's depressing. You are like this normally? I'm quite the scallywag.
  22. That's bonkers. It's just the waiting game now.
  23. I'm not pretending.
