I'd have a hard time thinking of many examples of people who were really hurt by the aggressive promotions, but maybe they are out there. Fleita is definitely in charge of that though as well as somewhat dictating a minor league philosophy. He probably shouldn't be running the whole player development program although they can probably find a better role for him. Why not just find no role for him (I know it's kinda late to bark up that tree since they signed him)? What does he do especially well? His name sounds like some kind of delicious breakfast platter.

You're asking who out there needs Albert Pujols. Did you miss the money part? Nope. Again, Albert Pujols. That's obviously not saying every team can afford him, but a player of that level is going to bring some relatively unexpected suitors out of the woodwork. Acting like the field is as narrow as C.C. is seemingly suggesting is silly.

They did have some Silverman guy from Boston on Mully and Hanley today saying basically that nothing was close. Yeah, what the [expletive]? I went to bed with the internet and radio and ESPN all telling me that it was all but done and wake up to the Score shows and their score update breaks saying it was still nowhere near being finished.

Pujols, please. I know it's somewhat irrational, but the idea of Fielder going the way of Mo Vaughn or Cecil while making close to $20M/year scares the hell out of me. And the fact that Pujols has been a much better hitter consistently and is a better fielder. I know Albert is older, but he just feels like a safer bet. Yeah, I keep going back and forth, but I think I'd prefer Pujols, too. Fielder's swing is just so damn violent, I keep waiting for him to wrench his back out one of these days.

Theo as the president is basically doing the same thing he would be doing as general manager except he'd more than likely have the final say on things which is a good thing. If we can find a way to bring in Jed Hoyer as general manager, we have one of the best front offices in baseball. Yeah, I have zero problem with this scenario at all.

Come on now. Two prospects in the 6-10 range is more than fair compensation for Epstein. That's less than the Guillen-Florida deal, for a more important role. If the Cubs get to hold onto their 5 best young MLers and 5 best prospects, we should be thrilled. AND YOU WANT TO BE MY LATEX SALESMAN.

This is kind of where I'm at. I'm pretty much all-in on Theo. Do I want to give up McNutt for him? Absolutely not, but if it's going to keep us from getting Theo, I don't feel like it's worth losing out on him for a pitcher like McNutt (who could end up being a very good 2/3 starter, but isn't a guarantee). Same here, but I doubt the Red Sox are just asking for McNutt and cash right now. If it was just that I think this would be done.
