  1. It made me want to rage-vomit onto his face. I really don't want to break my streak of not clicking on the sun-times site, what was the gist? Basically he's a meatball longing for the days of the "lovable losers" identity and the similar tolerance/apathy from the fans. Epstein apparently represents an "uglier" aspect of the team and the fans that's cropped up in the last decade (ie - spending too much, wanting the team to be good and being pissed when they're not). Oh, and it should be a local guy instead.
  2. It made me want to rage-vomit onto his face. the cubs should hire vince vaughn to be their gm...A CHICAGO GUY DAMN IT. Abe Frohman: the VICTORY king of Chicago.
  3. Kaplan's head is swollen and turgid.

  5. as white as i assume howie kendrick to be Ryan Howard sounds like the whitest dork who ever dorked.
  6. Insanity, I know.
  7. This is all anyone needs to know about Murton at this point: Ye gads.
  8. That's Xavier Nady/Reggie Willits/Khalil Greene-syndrome.
  9. Neither team has shied away from doubling down with the 1B/DH type of hitter. True, and it wouldn't surprise me to see the Red Sox go hard after either one with Ortiz likely gone, but the Yankees...I don't know. They've got Tex at 1B and ARod seems destined for the DH spot sooner rather than later. Another thing with their logjam is that it always seems one of the guys is on the DL anyway, so there isn't much bench time for the studs. But I see them going hard after pitching. Definitely.
  10. THEO SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THAT POOF.

  12. Actually, it's the opposite of forgetting about it; this is one of the primary reasons think he won't be back. They've shown zero interest in freeing up that money and could have chosen to offer such a plan when Albert was looking to talk his contract over with them before the season. Everything seems to indicate they want the expansion money off of their backs as soon as possible.
  13. A good poop is a great thing. And I'm not a very angry person at all. I just don't suffer fools and people who sound like they should be talking about the Cardinals with a miserable Droopy Dog-voice gladly.
  14. we've made a huge mistake. We talked about this earlier in the thread. Theo was right at the time. Epstein had a sexy OPS those first two season with the Angels and was a 9 WAR guy.
  15. OK, guy who hates babies and shits once a week.
  16. I'd have a hard time thinking of many examples of people who were really hurt by the aggressive promotions, but maybe they are out there. Fleita is definitely in charge of that though as well as somewhat dictating a minor league philosophy. He probably shouldn't be running the whole player development program although they can probably find a better role for him. Why not just find no role for him (I know it's kinda late to bark up that tree since they signed him)? What does he do especially well? His name sounds like some kind of delicious breakfast platter.
  17. I agree. 7 to 8 is a hell of a lot more than what C.C. was suggesting.
  18. Uh, no, *I* get to savor the joy over what happened last night and not the endlessly sobbing pussies.
  19. You're asking who out there needs Albert Pujols. Did you miss the money part? Nope. Again, Albert Pujols. That's obviously not saying every team can afford him, but a player of that level is going to bring some relatively unexpected suitors out of the woodwork. Acting like the field is as narrow as C.C. is seemingly suggesting is silly.
  20. You're asking who out there needs Albert Pujols.
  21. They did have some Silverman guy from Boston on Mully and Hanley today saying basically that nothing was close. Yeah, what the [expletive]? I went to bed with the internet and radio and ESPN all telling me that it was all but done and wake up to the Score shows and their score update breaks saying it was still nowhere near being finished.
  22. If he's leaving he's leaving.
  23. What's the diabolical plan behind them losing, what, 8 of the WS they've been in? Was being swept by the Red Sox in 2004 just a move to twist their knife deeper into your gut in 2006?
  24. Pujols, please. I know it's somewhat irrational, but the idea of Fielder going the way of Mo Vaughn or Cecil while making close to $20M/year scares the hell out of me. And the fact that Pujols has been a much better hitter consistently and is a better fielder. I know Albert is older, but he just feels like a safer bet. Yeah, I keep going back and forth, but I think I'd prefer Pujols, too. Fielder's swing is just so damn violent, I keep waiting for him to wrench his back out one of these days.
  25. HEY WHAT I THOUGHT EVERYTHING ALWAYS GOES THEIR WAY.
