  1. Nope. Because it was just so damn good.
  2. Yeah, I feel bad for the people that can only dwell on the playoff sweep. Yes, the ending sucked, but it's a long baseball season ahead of it, and it was pretty [expletive] great. Except for the ending. It's like a great movie and ruined by a crappy ending. It just ruins what went before it. No. 2008 was like LA Confidential; an amazing, nearly perfect film that I can shut off 5 minutes before it ends and still love.

  4. If he's serious about wanting to stay if it looks like they're trying to contend maybe he'd be willing to sign on the (relative) cheap with the Theo pick and, ideally, a signing of Pujols or Fielder. He took a pretty decent discount before, so maybe he'd be willing to do again. Sure would be awesome.
  5. THAT is the moment when we can start celebrating. Agreed. I'm not getting my hopes up yet until the process goes a littler farther. For the love of [expletive].
  6. I'm not sure he's the type of guy you offer arbitration to. At that point he may actually be taking up space that could be used for somebody else. He'll be 35 and potentially coming off back to back disappointing seasons. I'd imagine Byrd would be getting his last multi-year deal after this season. Can't see him accepting arb. Right. I guess I could see him accepting it if he has a terrible year and it looks nobody will really be interested in anything beyond a 1-year-deal. And in no way am I saying Byrd is untouchable from being traded; I just didn't get the earlier posts that seemed to be saying that he "needed to be gone" ASAP.
  7. Can it be just you? But I am of the joyous throngs. You are the heretic.
  8. Yes, instead of the Red Sox re-signing Ortiz to DH or even going after Prince to DH...they'll settle on Soriano.
  9. Did anyone else catch that his fantasy football team is named the stinky pinkies? Dude's got a sense of humor too. I also sadly caught the anti-Semitic douchebag in the comments. IT'S BASEBALL, YOU JERKFACE.
  10. Let's sacrifice and devour C.C. for the glory of our new lord and master.
  11. Hah! I grant thee karma.
  12. He looks like a kid toucher in that pic. No bueno.
  13. When porn stars have too much anal sex and their backside falls out.
  14. AW, JEEZ, I JUST CLUNKED JOSH BECKETT'S 1.026 WHIP OFFA MY FOOT THERE, EDITH!
  15. Oh, good [expletive] gravy. Yeah, Beckett having one of the best years of his career was a real "clunker."
  16. Wouldn't a post-Theo world be one in which Theo has already come and gone? No. Theo is the and of the world at all times. There was clearly referring to only this most recent development in the world of Theo.
  17. In a post-Theo world I really could not care any less if the Cardinals win this year's WS.
  18. Jesus [expletive] Christ. ... I'm going to give this man so many babies.
  19. You do realize that the first list is a list of players with the most money remaining on their contracts, right? Poz isn't arguing that Gonzalez has a bad contract. Clearly I did not. I AIN'T GOT TIME TO READ.
  20. He's absolutely right. Or at least he is about half the time. When the wind is blowing in, our high-powered HR guys do have a very hard time doing anything. Of course, if we didn't have those guys at all, we'd lose every game where the wind is blowing out at Wrigley. For the Cubs, the right answer is probably a mix. Other teams might be able to get away building their team more towards one side of the spectrum or the other. So the answer is to get good hitters.
  21. Nope. Yes. The 2013 Cubs will be a whole lot different. Of course. But not from being "blown up."
  22. OK, [expletive] the hell? Adrian Gonzalez? That's just...bizarre. Gonzalez is 29, he's been an 18 WAR player the last 3 years, and worth $28 million (2009), $22 million (2010) and $30 million (2011) each of those years. And I know it'll sound like I'm trying to hard to defend Epstein, but I still think it's way too early to declare the Crawford signing a bust. Nobody is going to argue that this first season with the Red Sox wasn't a disaster, but the guy just turned 30 and in the two years prior he was a 13.5 WAR player and worth $26.5 million and $30.4 million.
  23. he made some moves that worked out very well for him. i don't think he's a brilliant gm, but he's not one of the worst. I agree. and I think he gets more credit then Ozzie should for the WS even though he isn't a Beane or Cashman or (ORGASM) Epstein. I don't. He's basically Jim Hendry if the Cubs had won in 2003.
