  1. Which seems much more reflective in his FA signings than most of his trades.
  2. To a degree. It's not like they have a flawless track record. And were you really nervous with trade rumors when it came Hendry? That was an area where he was good at his job most of the time.
  3. It was the sports central Anchor, schanowski It was more a general slam against Buerhle and Kaplan than the other zilches on Comcast. Understood. I just think Schanowski gets away with a lot of the same stupidity as the others just by not banging it over everybody's head so much. But if you listen to his reports it's clear he thinks Zambrano, Ramirez and Soriano all suck and that it would be absurd to even think of any of them contributing something positive to the team. I really can't think of anyone there who isn't a meatball at least most of the time.
  4. I don't recall an in-depth article about him specifically, but it was reported that was one of his major duties with the Red Sox over the years. It was mentioned in passing here: http://www.weei.com/sports/boston/baseball/red-sox/alex-speier/2011/10/31/why-dale-sveum-candidate-manage-red-sox And then here's the iPad advertisement/article that did a good job getting us all excited about the idea: http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/6908844/information-age-changing-way-game-played *BOI-OI-OI-OINNNNNNG*
  5. You mean World Series winner Ryan Theriot?
  6. I should put a website up real quick and post an article that the Cubs have informed me that Alomar will be the next manager. I have a 25% chance of being right and nothing to lose. What was that one NSBB spinoff site with a forum that included all Chicago sports? Lets do it on that. I heard on Lee Elia's Playground that they've hired Maddux.

  8. If Ricketts knows seems like someone could leak the damned choice. [expletive] no. Ricketts runs a badass organization.
  9. And I'm sure their logic amounts to basically the same thing I've heard on the radio; that he's thrown both a no-hitter and a perfect game.
  10. Buerhle is the kind of player that Kaplan pleasures himself to.
  11. Maybe Maddon has talked about retiring or moving elsewhere after his contract his up next season and Martinez wants the Rays.
  12. Should I really have a problem with either? I'd prefer Maddux, but I'm not losing sleep if we end up with a different Theo/Hoyer-approved manager. I have to say, I'm not too enthused about a guy who resorts to talking about fantasy baseball when stats are brought up. And MacKanan just seems like an old goof. I really don't care what they say to the media; even guys like Maddon talk like a meatball in front of the press more often than not. My concern is how well the interviews with the FO went. And that they were even selected to interview in the first place. Right. But if they are the 3rd best out of 4 or 5 guys, they weren't necessarily all that great. Would they go for another round of interviews if the x amount of guys they liked from this batch turned them down? Or would they just hire the next best guy? But the point is that they were 4 or 5 guys targeted by our FO in the first place. That ideally already puts them at the top, or near the top, of the pack.
  13. 5 and a half years here. Then what is a reliable way to evaluate defense? Scouting? Number of successfully executed plays divided by the number of bird-related interferences times skin pigment = profit

  16. I had no idea Italian baseball was a thing.
  17. And that guy [expletive] HATES New York. Get outta here with that nonsense!
  18. Jesus Christ, can you imagine if Roger Clemens left the Red Sox for the both the Blue Jays AND the Yankees? That would be [expletive] insane.
  19. It's not an aversion to the general idea of trading Soto; it's an "aversion" to the idea of moving him now when his value is pretty damn low and there's a decent chance he rebounds again. Trading him now would likely end up being too much of a "trade him just to trade him" move.
  20. He probably wouldn't unless he was part of an offer as opposed to the one piece.
