    I don't think this will just blow over. Not that it'll make much of an impact, because people weren't going to go to the games anyway (only half kidding). Signing Soler might help. I am wary.

    Again, the gulf between the usual Ozzie rant and Ozzie proclaiming his appreciation of Fidel Castro when he's the new manager of the team in Miami trying to court the Cuban population is gigantic. Glossing over it as just "pushing buttons" is just, I dunno, some kind of fallacy or something.

    Oh, come on. They clearly didn't hire him to basically [expletive] say "I'm a big fan of Fidel Castro." If you can't see the difference as to how THAT might be an issue for the MIAMI Marlins vs. the usual Ozzie rants then I don't even know what to say.

    I was thinking maybe it would do the opposite and they'd make some kind of insane offer to Soler to try and placate the Cuban community. I mean, it's Loria we're talking about here, and he's not firing Ozzie, so it wouldn't surprise me to see him do something crazy.

    He took "aloooooooooooot of [expletive]" as a starter because he's a horrible starter. The guy ideally can be serviceable as a reliever, so I have no idea why you'd want to see him get another chance as a starting pitcher. Because of part of one game against the Red Sox?

    Plus in the post-game interview Dale specifically addressed the PC issue and said it wasn't ideal and not something he'd usually want to do with a pitcher like this.

    Actually, you're still kind of arguing in favor of him. Signing Fukudome was actually one of the smarter FA moves of Hendry's tenure regardless of how it worked out. Guys like him and (even moreso) Cespedes are the kinds of guys I want them to take chances on.

    Actually, being forced to only go to the bars around Wrigley would be a truly horrible punishment.
