  1. I'm still trying to get over the fact that a game I play drunk is an Olympic sport. You can pole vault drunk if you want to. Hell, you're drunk; you can do whatever you want.
  2. Farms and farmers suck; vive la city. Serious point: aren't you potentially kind of contradicting yourself when you bemoan people getting "more" cancer and getting it younger by then immediately pointing out how we can detect it better and earlier than ever before? I mean, I could easily be completely wrong and there are numbers that show that statistically speaking we are getting cancer at increasing rates and also with the ages getting younger, but it seems almost completely self-fulfilling that it's going to seem like there's more cancer BECAUSE we're able to better diagnose it and diagnose it sooner.
  3. Look at me, wallowing in my own crapulence over here.
  4. But the Cubs aren't going to be good until they trade Soriano and hose down Hendry's favorite chair or something.
  5. Many people don't consider 'just making the playoffs a success' like you do. They did win the WS and that's still something we can't say. The failure of Hendry still hangs over this club and will until we dump Soriano, etc... I'm no fan of Kenny but he's managed on a smaller budget and is apparently a better judge of value than Hendry ever was. They're basically the same GM.
  6. I hate Williams and Reinsdorf, but I've got to admit somehow Williams gets things done. Don't forget that "horrible system" has produced a bunch of players on the ML roster as well as the trade bait necessary to get the veterans to make a run for the playoffs. Most of those players suck and the team usually sucks. How the hell is this "getting things done?"
  7. This is going to be entertaining if every page is Theo freaking out about something and then Banedon slapping him around.
  8. Seriously, the awesomeness of the archery match has ruined any interest in anything unless it's Phelps or Bolt; it's all downhill otherwise.
  9. That certainly refers to the incidents he had with Felix Pie.
  10. Just when you think Phil Rogers has reached the peak of stupidity, he comes up with this gem. I would love it if this trade would happen. We could then try to flip Pena to the Dodgers along with Dempster or Garza. Unfortunatley, last I checked The Rays had not yet replaced Andrew Friedman with a chimpanzee. Well thought out.
  11. Yeah, I was way more invested in that than I thought I would be. I'll bet they were distracted by the one Italian guy who looked like a disguised mob witness.
  12. There's a U.S. archer named Wukie.
  13. I mean you only seem to make posts involving the Cardinals. On a Cubs board. It's odd.
  14. Yeah, Garza still holds a lot of value in the offseason with the way guys seem to be getting locked up. It's frustrating to see their plans fall through right now, but I'm confident they can handle the rebound if necessary.
  15. "[expletive], WHY AM I STUCK WITH THIS TALENTED PITCHER?!?! OH, WOE IS ME." Are you really that clueless or just trolling? Who the [expletive] cares how talented is. A. He's not going to be around when this teams competitive. B. This team needs to be building for the future and acquiring as much young talent as it can. It's not rocket science. We need to turn him into multiple talented pitchers that will be around for when we are competitive, that's what I think most of us would prefer. It's impossible a 28-year-old pitcher will be around when they're next competitive? Don't be ridiculous. Management has given every indication they weren't planning on having him around. So they change their plans if necessary.

  17. "[expletive], WHY AM I STUCK WITH THIS TALENTED PITCHER?!?! OH, WOE IS ME." You're kidding yourself if you think he's not pissed about this turn of events. They were shopping him around because they wanted to, and now those efforts have been severely hindered. Yeah, but it's not like the alternative is something horrible or unworkable. Basically it's the FO's job to have a continually evolving plan and to deal with these kinds of issues, so I'm not sweating it.
  18. Bob expects athletes to be out there in full makeup at all times.

  20. But keeping Garza is good. Not in the long run. In the longest run.
