Except, it was a year, maybe 18 months. these catfishing hoaxes aren't 2 week affairs. the people behind them are cruel and probably a little insane. people literally do this to tons of people every day. So did they tell him to make up all the [expletive] about their relationship or did he come up with it on his own? Catfishes is crafty.

right. which is why we know that, at the very least, te'o was lying about something. i mean, he said he met her FACE TO FACE. unless they found an actress to play the role who also happened to look very much like the girl whose facebook photo they later stole, TE'O LIED ABOUT THIS. are you at least willing to admit that, MR? Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup. You've got ND saying he never lied about anything when you've got multiple parts of this that require him to be lying for the story to make any kind of sense.

If he was dumb enough to drag it out this long there's a good chance he's dumb enough to think his tracks are covered. Besides, are you saying ND wouldn't be as hard on him if he admitted to it now as opposed to if investigators discover it? That's pretty [expletive] of them.

He's a stupid religious nut who has no idea how to deal with being gay and so he did something really, really stupid. There's plenty reason. And yeah, go ahead and keep acting like anyone's reaction to this has amounted to much more emotionally besides "this is hilarious."

So it was a gang of people duping him? What a load of [expletive] [expletive]. MAYBE if there was seemingly some kind of effort to blackmail him or something, but instead we're supposed to just believe it was an epic prank multiple people were in on...and it was a prank they only did for their own benefit and they didn't reveal it to anyone at all? Even the smartest, funniest, most dick-headed secret Internet community couldn't pull off this con, and I know we're not all unfamiliar with a community like that. Even IF I were able to accept all of the unbelievable facts that would contribute to Te'o being a victim, I don't think even the best trolls could pull this off. Like seriously, no one complicit sees all the coverage of his dead girl and has even the modicum of humanity it would take to create a fake gmail account to tell him he should probs ease up on the tasteless pimping of his dead GF en route to a doomed heisman run? No one has even a shred of a conscience in the group. Not his bud? Not the fake girl stand in? Not anyone they told? Which facts are unbelievable? I just need a reason Te'o would risk everything for this? Put career at risk for no benefit at all? Why? Because he's an idiot. I mean, you could ask the same thing of the legions of rapists that have passed through their hallowed campus, but they did what they did, too.
