  1. I can't stop watching that.
  2. Agreed. I just can't shake the feeling that the Cubs aren't going to get anything close to the new "market value" and I really don't want to wait until 2020 for significant added revenue. The increasing pile of things they've missed out on, are missing out on or just seem to be in limbo from is killing me. Tell me about it. I'm having a hard time waiting 3 weeks to see if they miss out on Tanaka. I really, really, really want to be a more positive person going forward, but [expletive], they're doing their best to make it tough. I'd kill for one singular, definitive bit of news a la the excitement of getting Theo. At this point just breaking ground on the Jumbotron would have me crying tears of joy.

  4. The pic with his bio just about says it all... http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/189287/brian_davis.html OH COME ON. This has to be a bit.
  5. Someone here wrote that, I know it. Confessssssssssssssssssssssssssss...
  6. That piece is some kind of elaborate prank, right?
  7. The dichotomy between the last two posts could not be more soul-crushingly depressing.
  8. Y'know, when it was gross and a sin and against God's will or whatever. Way to judge people you come across.
  9. So did he come out before or after those anti-gay blog posts?
  10. But really, I just wanted to bash Andy because it disgusts me every time he comments on anything along these lines.
  11. I'm referring to my typing as "book publishing."
  12. Well, he's not George Takei or anything, but he went well beyond what most people, celebrity or not, would do. This is basically what I'm disagreeing with; he didn't really do anything above and beyond. That's not a slam on him; it's great what he's done, but it feels like anyone trying to paint this as something more is kinda looking for a roundabout way to rationalize it as a reason for him losing his job.
  13. It just seems like REALLY overstating things to me. "Activism" is a pretty singular focus on a cause. This was a just a cool guy using his platform so just spout some common sense.
  14. "Activism?" Being a decent [expletive] human being is "activism" in your book? Oh, right; it's Andry and these are the gays. Yes, what he was doing was activism. He was actively going out and promoting the idea of marriage equality as a fairly visible member of an NFL team. What you and I might do in being supportive of gay marriage laws being passed would be being a decent human being. He's just on the public stage by default; he was barely doing anything that could be called activism outside of writing some articles and answering questions in interviews.
  15. It ain't stalking if you're desperately putting it out there in the hopes of getting anyone to read it.
  16. I definitely agree along those lines; I think with the way the offense is shaping up you can get by with simply having a defense that isn't terrible and still easily have a competitive team. That's not saying they should halfass the defensive rebuild, but I don't think they should or need to basically devote nearly their entire drafting and FA focus on it.
  17. I'd rather the Bears protect their asset as opposed to putting their current offensive collection effectively on hold while they try to build up a replacement or trade for/sign someone who isn't there. I think that he's only missed as much time as he has despite having the [expletive] kicked out of him is an argument in his favor as opposed to to him being fragile or increasingly injury-prone. Isn't that what they basically did this year, with the added issue of it being a new offense? I know UK mentioned replacing him, but that was always my worst case scenario. Right; as everyone becomes even more accustomed to the new system and the line continues to improve (and it has plenty of room to do so) I'm not that worried. I think they're trending in the right direction offensively.
  18. Cause it would be the most recent season. Further gets away from injury the more confident you have to feel about him staying that way. I don't know; if someone is arguing that there's potentially a multi-year trend a single season wouldn't much to dissuade me of that.
  19. This. We've watched him take the hit time and again to get those few extra yards. We've watched him take hit after hit waiting for a man to get open. That he hasn't missed more time is definitely an argument in his favor as much as any injury is an argument against. And with a more protective line and quality talent to throw to, I think we will see fewer injuries going forward. He doesn't have to gamble his health nearly as much as he used to with this current offense. Right. The line was definitely improved this year, and hopefully will keep trending in the right direction. Between that and the weapons he has I'm not going to lose sleep over him suffering something random.
  20. 21. Kluwe [expletive] rules. Between the Incognito garbage and this and Kerry Rhodes and Riley Cooper the NFL has been doing a bang-up job of seeming like it's populated by brain-dead animal-men even more so than usual, which is oddly/depressingly impressive.
  22. I don't know. I think he writes a pretty compelling case, and the things that were said to him by his coaches is disturbing and unacceptable, but in terms of linking what was said/done to him and his release from the Vikings, there are 2 sides to every story. Either way, he's certainly blackballed now. our punter was pretty much decapitated, surely he had a place on the bengals roster if he wasn't blackballed. yeah, why wouldn't any team want to sign a pro-bowl punter? Blackballed or whatever you want to call it, I'm sure he got cut and wouldn't be signed by another team because of his vocal support for gay rights. Whether they're homophobic or just don't want to deal with the distraction for something as easily (and cheaply) replaceable as a veteran punter, I don't know, probably varies by team. But he surely ended his career today. Pretty much; anyone thinking that this isn't a huge deal to avoid for the backwards-ass sports world (especially the NFL) is just deluding themselves. Even I knew there was less than a zero chance of him admitting it, I wanted the Rogers rumors to be true so bad; the best [expletive] QB around being gay would be pretty awesome.
  23. "Activism?" Being a decent [expletive] human being is "activism" in your book? Oh, right; it's Andry and these are the gays.
  24. Why would one more injury-free season allay recurring injury fears?
