    Seemingly forever the ads in pro sports seemed hyper focused on getting you to drink and buy a vehicle of some kind, and everything else was just window dressing. Now it feels like it's mostly gambling, prescriptions and the military.

    You cannot truly believe that other teams couldn't afford that contract.

    It never ceases to amaze me just how desensitized we have mostly become to what an astronomical amount of money a billion dollars truly is. Like, someone will see that Cohen is worth $20 billion and the Ricketts are worth $5 billion and then 100% throw that down like it means the latter couldn't possibly afford these types of contracts. Once you have several billions you and your descendants will arguably never even come close to spending even a fraction of it over the course of their lives even if they were doing it 24/7.

    None of the recent "monster" contracts, on their own, have been anywhere near a point where the Ricketts would have to throw up their hands and pull out their pockets due to them not actually being able to afford it. Again, they are choosing to not be competitive.

    I don't care that their profit margin is less than another team; it's still a ridiculous profit margin and they have obscene wealth on top of that. There's a gigantic difference between being unable to spend more and choosing not to spend more, and the Ricketts are 110% doing the latter.

    Twitter is a hunk of horsefeathers. Musk fired something like 80% of the workforce, which dipshits cheer about while totally ignoring that Twitter itself is only technically "working" along the lines of a years-old office PC that is left on 24/7. It has completely lost almost all advertisers and is hemorrhaging users and is only still running because the owner essentially has unlimited funds to keep the lights on for as long as the current version can keep running until it collapses. BlueSky is...fine. It's an infinitely more tolerable experience to the dumpster fire Twitter and Zuckerberg's monstrosities have become, but it's still hinged on replicating a massively flawed and inherently harmful social media experience, so....yay? It's a better version of an unavoidably bad model.

    I think it's for a lot of people "banned from baseball" shouldn't include the Hall. It's ultimately just an MLB museum, so it's goofy to just pretend like certain people or events simply don't exist. Like I said, ban people like him from working in and around pro ball, but if the numbers merit it then put them in the HoF. Of course the whole voting system is beyond stupid and should be all but abolished, too, but that's a whole other thing.
