  1. And the plywood might actually be grittier than Theriot. Something to consider. before each game the piece of plywood should be required to soak in mud. that way his jersey is dirty before the game even starts.
  2. Trust me, it's going to be worth it this year. The Blackhawks have an amazing team... anyone I've gotten to give it a chance and watch at least 3 games start to know the players and rules and realize hockey is an awesome sport. The Blackhawks color/play by play team this year is going to be awesome as well, they're going to realize their audience might not be hockey die hards and will explain everything as such. I've been to quite a few Peoria Rivermen games in my years, so trust me, I do understand and enjoy hockey. I just think it will be hard for me to form the 'personal' attachment to players I'm not familiar with. But yea, I fully plan on giving it a chance this year. So I'm at least one conformer for your cause this year! :) edit - the part about the announcers understanding their context gives me hope...they're going to probably have to dumb down their commentary at least a little for this year. play fantasy hockey or pick up a hockey video game and get to know the players. its the best way to get into a sport imo.
  3. Pat and Ron as a pair are still phenomenal even if Santo isn't great. In two years of listening to like 75% of the games I have yet to hear them miss a key play in the game. Maybe a pitch or two, but not entire plays or batters.
  4. Rozner doesn't like the non-english speakers. Okay, so apparently Tallon doesn't care about, uh, scoring goals. I get that we don't want one-dimensional forwards, but we have a pretty solid defensive group. As for the little Czech mob in the locker room, interesting insight, and definitely the first I've read of those three guys being a "problem." If you want to call it that. Lang has always been a problem. Havlat I've heard mixed reports on. Khabibulin I also know has had issues in the past. I don't think this is really a big shock though. I know Rozner kinda sucks but I don't think getting rid of Lang is a bad thing really.
  5. me too. them replacing two great starters with a very good reliever would be fantastic.
  6. What'd he say? He hates Bruce Froemming. Who doesn't?
  7. http://www.justin.tv/barcalysports
  8. Me too. Astros announcers complaining about not having matching shoes. There's probably a lot worse things for him to complain about. I hate opposing announcers when they play the Cubs. They are ALWAYS so bitter... I never hear Len and Bob bashing opposing teams. They needs to grow up and do their job instead of complain how much of a following the Cubs have. Well this is random. The Astros guys have been fine so far.
  9. aramis's grand slam against philly, the walk off against chicago, daryle ward's homer against florida, and the huge comeback against colorado. oh, and lance berkman darting off the field in the lightning storm.
  10. this is dusty's baker plan finally coming to fruition. all our 2B getting the job done.
  11. Not me. Rich Harden hasn't pitched since August 29 or something like 13 days. So no, I prefer that one of the team's co-aces pitches more then once every two weeks. If he is comfortable, and is healthy he should start tonight. Edit: NM what I just said. I just saw the weather in St. Louis, and I doubt, very doubt the game will get in tonight. But seeing as the first two games in Houston have been postponed, how about playing the last Cards game in St. Louis tomorrow? probably because the cardinals have a game.
  12. 6th in the AL in sac hits. they also have a wholly mediocre offense and we (usually) have an awesome one. i don't know why we'd want to play more like the way they're perceived to play anyway.
  13. i think you should just restart from scratch. we only had what, 6 people in the league last year? maybe you can get more this year.
  14. i've run the league the last two years but i'm just not up for fantasy sports any more so someone else has to make the league.
  15. Please explain what it would take to be a very good team in your mind? Best offense, and 1 of the best pitching staffs in baseball isnt good enough for you? RedVerbs is actually Joe Morgan, so there aren't any good teams.
  16. So is it almost your 1.5 year anniversary of being a Brewers fan? I dont get it Look back 1.5 years ago at the standings, maybe you will... clearly the brewer fan with the handle "ELCABALLO45" just started being a fan of his team last year.
  17. Disagree yeah i mean how will we win with our over achieving offense and without our 3rd best starter doomed i say. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c194/vh2k6/bender-doomed.jpg DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED
  18. and every good offense in the history of baseball has probably had similar days.
  19. when he hits them, they stay hit.
  20. if this is there only shot to get it in why wouldn't they just wait it out?
  21. He pitched out of the pen twice in the 2003 ALDS giving up 2 runs in 1.1 IP He started Game 3 of the 2006 ALCS pitching 5.2 IP 3 ER 5 H 5 BB 4 K and took the loss those are not encouraging numbers crap it was his rookie year and the second year was his fourth start after coming back from an injury that sidelined him for 3 1/2 months.
  22. mike ribeiro could probably be considered a soft player. forgot about him. probably just remember his horrible stupid display a few years ago when he was a hab.
  23. rico fata & kessel i don't like Havlat being called a top-5 forward, without the condition 'offensively'. there are many other players i would prefer to have considering their all around game. he is instant offense though. fata isn't in the NHL any more and Kessel really made strides towards the end of last year. watching the bruins i never got the sense that he was soft...i think he's just in over his head atm. What about Gilbert Brule? maybe. i really don't watch the blue jackets though so i have no idea.
