  1. not a chance. terrible defensive first period sunk the caps in that game. that's their achilles heel. green isn't very good defensively and neither is jurcina. huet is average too. i thought we were the better team coming into the series and after outplaying washington for at least a period in the first game and then both of the last two games, i can't say my opinion has changed. the flyers were definitely the better team tonight but, imo, they weren't very good in either of the first two games. the caps were awful in game 2 and bad for about 5 minutes in the first period tonight but otherwise it's been a very even series. green has been really bad defensively in this series but he's been okay most of the season. the issue is that morissonn isn't supporting him as well as he was during the regular season. morrisonn has given him free range to pretty do as he pleases in the offensive zone but he's been a little shaky in this series. jurcina is bad, i really wish boudreau would dress eminger over him. jurcina brings nothing to the table at all. on top of that, huet has been pretty bad in this series.

  3. that was a miserable play by Jurcina. i would've called a timeout after one of the last two goals if I were Boudreau...i mean yeah it's the end of the period but i would've worried about giving up another goal. i wonder if he'll go with kolzig at some point. as bad as he was during the regular season, stranger things have happened than a guy getting motivated to come up big in the playoffs. huet has looked shaky all series, even in his good game in game 2. even before he gave up goals, he was leaving fat rebounds in front and generally looking uncomfortable and lackadaisical. the caps look much better on offense though. they looked really bad passing and breaking out in game 2, but the passes are much more crisp and stick-to-stick today. flyers look much better today than they did in either of the first two games.
  4. Drop Josh Fields, add Chase Utley stupid white sox can't do anything right. trade crede already dammit.
  5. I don't think anyone is making fun of spousal abuse, but rather pointing out that Brett Myers is a moron.
  6. I agree. Speaking of which - since this is obviously the case - I am going to break the news to Sarah Wood...I'm sure she'll need someone to comfort her when she finds out... 8-) yeah she needs someone's fukudome jersey to cry on.
  7. Canadiens in 6 Penguins in 5 Capitals in 7 Rangers in 5 Red Wings in 4 Sharks in 7 Avalanche in 6 Ducks in 5 imo the Habs/Bruins series is going to be much closer and much better than most people are giving it credit for. Canadiens over Rangers in 6 Biased me says Caps over Penguins but that would be a great, great series. Pretty much the two hottest teams in the East for the last 4 months of the regular season. Ovechkin v... MALKIN! and that crosby guy i guess. Red Wings over Avalanche in 6 Sharks over Ducks in 7 Habs over Penguins in 7 Sharks over Red Wings in 6 Sharks over Habs in 6 also, the senators did everything wrong last night. the worst part of it was that they let the penguins send the message at the end of the game. how does bryan murray let laraque's 80 second shift with 90 seconds left in the game go unchecked? how do you not start something before roberts buries cody bass into the boards with 11 seconds left? letting therrien send the message there is poor.
  8. The damn Kings can't even lose right. Tampa wins the lottery and Stamkos (assuming they don't trade down, and really they ARE a team that needs defense first so it's possible, I suppose). Oh well we'll just take one of the bevy of serviceable defensemen likely to go in the top 10, I guess.

  10. AND OVECHKIN IS IN! at least i have something to cheer for in the playoffs.
  11. the last reallly important game of the regular season: Florida Panthers @ Washington Capitals. The Caps need 1 point to get into the playoffs (and to pretty much guarantee Ovechkin the hart, for what little that's worth lol).
  12. if boston holds on, boston, ottawa, and philly all clinched tonight. can't believe carolina lost...
  13. Panthers @ Hurricanes. Hurricanes win and they're in 3rd in the east. Hurricanes lose and they still have a pretty good chance of getting in, I think...I'm not 100% sure. Devils @ Flyers. Flyers need points. They need at least 3 in their last two games to have any shot at making it, imo. They could still sneak in, but I wouldn't bet on the Caps losing to the Panthers. They probably need all 4, really. Bruins @ Senators. Biggest game left in the regular season, perhaps. Boston probably has the best chance of getting in among the teams not clinched right now, since they have 2 games left and are already in. They still need points. I'm cheering for a win in regulation. Senators win and get in. In fact, one point and they're in. They're down Alfredsson and Fisher though...so it will be interesting if nothing else. and booooo I can't get the panthers/canes game working on CI online for some reason. I was going to watch that until Bruins/Sens...might have to just go watch Flyers/Devils for a bit, I guess.
  14. meh, they're beating up on the as-usual terrible southeast division. their defense/goaltending isn't very good and while ovechkin is the best player in the league, IMO, his impact can be muted by a solid defensive defenseman and not taking too many penalties and putting the caps on the power play. who knows, washington could have the 3 seed and carolina could be out of the playoffs. both teams finish up with home games against yet another bad team, the florida panthers. their defense is decent (although losing Morrisonn hurts) and huet was extremely underrated with Montreal. on top of that they actually have a fair amount of responsible defensive forwards and a good system w/ Boudreau. they have the second most points in the east since Hanlon was fired (Penguins are first). i've watched probably about 30-40 of their games this year since Hanlon was fired, they're a very entertaining team to watch. i'm really cheering for boston tonight though. if they win in regulation, the caps win tomorrow, and philly/boston finish up as they should then ottawa would be on the outside looking in, which would be fantastic. they won't have fisher or alfie tonight either, which is huge. even though toronto lost 8-2, at least they did something...
  15. i've seen at least one over 90, but mostly around 88 or 89. i haven't paid attention to his velocity since the first two innings though.
  16. i still think ottawa may be the most talented team on paper. i really cannot believe what has happened to them. especially since alfredsson is regarded as a great leader. there has to be something going on behind the scenes there. i think it's the defense and goaltending. they have an exceptionally overrated defense aside from Phillips/Volchenkov and the goaltending has been spotty all year long. not a fan of wade redden? not really. i mean he's not bad...but he's gone way down hill since his partner left after 06. i wouldn't want the kings to sign him to bolster their defense though, i think that says something.

  18. man i was positive that the sens would make the playoffs...if they lose tonight (currently down 1-0) and washington beats the lightning as they should (and they've totally outplayed and outworked the lightning so far, ramo is just having a monster start), the caps control their own destiny. even so, the caps have 2 periods left vs. the lightning (who are god awful) and a game against the panthers (who have nothing to play for besides pride), while the sens get the leafs (fierce rival) and the bruins (still looking to lock up a playoff spot). going to be a very entertaining finish. i really would like nothing more than to see boston, carolina, philly, and washington in with ottawa on the outside. as i type this, dany heatley ties the game at 1 vs. the Leafs.
  19. i've never liked their announcers...their PBP guy is easily one of the bottom 5 in the league.
  20. e2s picks jay bruce, someone pm david
  21. Group A: Ryan Howard Group B: Carlos Pena and Alfonso Soriano Group C: Nick Swisher, Andruw Jones, and Travis Hafner Group D: Jason Bay, Josh Fields, Mike Jacobs, Josh Willingham, and Adam Laroche Wild Card: Evan Longoria
  22. yeah simon got 30 for the same thing, and while prongers history isn't quite as extensive, he has a checkered past as well.
  23. oh man bruins/flyers have had EPIC games this year. AARON WARD! wow. john stevens is terrible, i agree.
  24. oh man it's gotta suck to be nicklas backstrom right about now.
  25. WOW Hossa to the Penguins. Esposito, Armstrong, Christensen, and maybe a 1st rounder back to the Thrashers.
