  1. Prust and Brouwer fight...slight edge to Prust.
  2. Versteeg scores...burying the Flames early in the 3rd. Very good passing play to set that up, I think Kane made the pass that set it up, but Toews's hard work set up the whole play. great goal. 5-1.
  3. Jonathan Toews squeezes his first of the year past Kipper.
  4. Now Boyd gets a late goal for the Flames...
  5. Amazing shift by the Hawks culminates in Kane scoring a nice goal. 3-0
  6. Aaron Johnson scored...Burish with the big screen of Kipper. Goals in the last minute are huuuge.
  7. another penalty on the Hawks...
  8. What a great play. Havlat makes it 1-0.
  9. How in the world did Kiprusoff stop that?
  10. not really. the video quality depends on how fast your connection is, if you have a good connection (and live in the US) it's as good as pretty much anything you can get. if the stream you're talking about is the one i'm thinking about, it's maybe slightly better than yahoo's stream.
  11. the cheering throughout the US national anthem is pretty awesome.
  12. or, more legally, the game is streaming on Yahoo!
  13. that was a really, really weird trade. was eminger terrible with philly or something? he always struck me as a similar player to carle that was never given a chance to play. on top of that, they added in downie to take on a guy who has been mediocre since the first half of his rookie year.
  14. new jersey has no cap room at all.
  15. spezza isn't going anywhere because the senators are going to have a shot at the playoffs. you can have derek armstrong and kyle calder though :D
  16. that should be an epic matchup. if the kings game wasn't on at the same time i'd probably figure out a way to watch it.
  17. i think their depth among their skaters may help them overcome any goaltending issues. it's not a lock, but i could easily see it happening.
  18. definitely. i saw their game against the rangers too. they're not at 100% yet and they're 7-1-1. hard to imagine how good they could be.
  19. he is so bad. he does that stupid play up the middle all the time because it worked once. good game for the kings though, they played tough. aside from gauthier they played a pretty solid game.
  20. it's kind of stupid to use baseball as an example since it's a series of 1v1 events. complaining about the shootout is dumb, it's not going anywhere. it's not bad for the game at all. i don't know if it's good or not, but it's definitely not bad (and pissing off purists is not a bad thing since they aren't going to go anywhere because a handful of games are decided in a way that they don't like). the point system is the problem in the NHL, not shootouts. either go to a 3 point system (3 for regulation win, 2 for OT/SO win w/ 1 for a OT/SO loss) or go by W/L record and stop recording OT/SO losses.
  21. Nobody is arguing about blaming the loss of the game to the NHL because of the shootout, what people are saying there shouldn't be a shootout period. There should OT until the game is decided. I wouldn't be opposed to say; 1OT: 5 on 5. 2OT: 4 on 4. 3OT: 3 on 3 (or people prefer, play the 4 on 4 from the start of the first OT to the end of the game) And you play the 3 on 3 till the game is decided. A gimmick should never determine the outcome of the game. (and yes they should also goes toward futbol) Football games are not decided by a field goal kciking contest. Basketball games are not decided by 3 point shooting contest, or dunking contest. Baseball games are not decided by homerun. Hockey should not be decided by a shootout. It's stupid, and I am pretty sure if the NHL survey the players about how should the game be decided, I am confident that the majority of players in the NHL would say OT till the game is decided. i would guarantee that the players would not vote for OT until the game is decided in the regular season (unless it was presented as the only alternative to shootouts, which is dumb).
  22. Don't overstate things, here :-P uhm, i'm not. they totally controlled the blues and they've been pitiful since 05-06 (and they were mediocre then). it's not a huge feat, but it's worth noting for a young team. and kesler is a really, really underrated player. he really impressed me last year. i've only seen one 'nucks game this year though...the caps game. yeah, not a good showcase of the team.
  23. The Kings just played their best game since 05-06.
  24. the defense wasn't great, but niittymaki and biron both were bad too. plus the sharks are one of the best teams (if not the best) team in the nhl. it's not just tonight, we haven't won a damn game yet. given our schedule, we may have already elected a new president before the flyers get a win. oh i know the defense is shaky, but the 7 goals are a bit misleading as it was just a wide-open game and none of the goalies (nabokov included) were particularly good. the flyers will be fine.
  25. the defense wasn't great, but niittymaki and biron both were bad too. plus the sharks are one of the best teams (if not the best) team in the nhl.
