  1. I haven't had this problem all year but I don't really know who to bench between Jakobi Meyers, DJ Moore, Deon Jackson and Kenyan Drake. Only 2 can play and one has to be a WR. Right now I'm just rolling with Yahoo's projections and benching Meyers and Drake.
  2. I'm much too happy to be annoyed about this and wasn't even going to bring it up, but since Brian did himself:
  3. I thought they were cheating with their pitchers before the trash can crap even came out. And frankly as great as he is I'm still very skeptical that Justin Verlander is pitching the best baseball of his life at age 38 or whatever he is without any weird horsefeathers happening.
  4. OK, Kelly can beat Alabama as many times as he wants if ND destroys a top-5 team the same night each time it happens
  5. Clemson isn't very good and will likely lose before the ACC Championship game Notre Dame is a smaller underdog Saturday (+4) than they were in the 2020 version of this game despite a hilariously huge downgrade at the most important position since then, so it seems like Vegas doesn't think much of Clemson.
  6. Just looking at the rankings it seems like the committee doesn't think the B1G or the ACC are any good, so yeah the Michigan/Clemson thing seems odd given that context. I'm still confused by the Penn State thing given their best accomplishment so far was basically doing what Notre Dame did against Ohio State (hang in just long enough to get sat on in the end). But whatever, as usual this will all sort itself out and these weekly shows are dumb.
  7. I don't generally care what Brian Kelly does with his time these days but if he beats Alabama while ND is likely getting waxed by Clemson in large part because of the gaping horsefeathers hole in the QB room he was responsible for, the takes will be unbearable, so Roll Tide.
  8. This week begins the fun tradition of switching these from the AP to the CFP committee rankings once they come out. 9. The Panthers openly announced they were tanking 3 days ago and are also 1 game out, with a 2-0 record in division. Suddenly next week's game in Atlanta becomes huge.

  11. Dung for Young is fully on. I'm happy for McCaffrey, who deserves better than to toil on a terrible team throughout his prime as he has so far.
  12. That exact clip was in a Tweet embedded into an article about last night's game. IIRC he did that several times with DeRozan and/or LaVine last year too.
  13. I didn't watch the game and don't get to watch many games, but the more I read about Ayo the more I like him. The kid just knows how to play the game and keeps a level head every minute. It's awesome. Fantastic pick (and luck that he was there) by AKME. Hardly any words can be added about DeRozan. Dude's a badass.
  14. LaVine out tonight. Great. I'm sure there's nothing to worry about with a lingering knee injury to a guy the Bulls just gave a horsefeathers ton of money to - it's not like that's ever been an issue before.
  15. Carolina is on its 4th-string QB (Jacob Eason, in case you were curious), are shopping Christian McCaffrey and are booting guys off the team in the middle of the game... So we're well on our way to Bryce Young.

  17. I think that’s only true if ND wins out and Michigan is the team that wins that game and the Big Ten. Big Ten appears to be down this year, Michigan played a really bad non-conference schedule as we all know so they have a hard argument as a 1 loss team that didn’t play in their conference title game. A 10-2 Notre Dame gives OSU a top 15 win and an argument, along with their dominance this year to make it. UM over OSU or not, a 10-2 ND would help them because it would mean Clemson and USC take losses. There's a nightmare scenario where ND goes into the USC game basically determining whether USC or Michigan goes to the CFP. LOL JK Notre Dame horsefeathering sucks so bad they're not determining anything except how many assistant coaches get fired after this horsefeathering disaster of a season. Marshall and Stanford are two of the worst teams Notre Dame has ever lost to and Freeman managed to pull it off within a five-week span.
  18. Bryce Young is so stupidly good. Might actually be worth rooting for Carolina to lose out.
  19. I would love to be wrong but if Michigan's biggest test in the next 6 weeks is Illinois then there will be two B1G teams in the playoff. 20. They'll get a crack at Georgia either way and if they win that they'll see Bama again. They're sure fun to watch.

  22. That makes too much sense. They talked about this or something similar. If they added a second bye, the season would go to the end of February. Moving Week 1 up to Labor Day weekend isn't something they want to do either. Why don't they want to move games to Labor Day weekend? Seems like a no-brainer to me I'm sure there's some data they have that indicates people don't watch as much TV Labor Day weekend, but the NFL basically owns the country to a large extent. They'd adjust. Also, the season did at one point start before Labor Day (granted the last time was 2000, so a lifetime ago in terms of TV rights and such). It's not like it's unprecedented.
  23. Not satisfied with doing all they can to ruin college football through pointless and nonsensical realignment, the power conferences are now taking aim at college basketball. It's all about infusing new revenue growth rather than just being pleased with the already financially healthy state of things.
  24. this got me thinking about the biggest championship probability added hits, and i found this https://harvardsportsanalysis.org/2016/11/all-time-most-pivotal-plays-in-the-world-series/ the rajai davis home run is 3rd, zobrist's single is 15 Davis is the only one in the top 11 positive CPA plays whose team did not win the title. The next-most positive play that did not ultimately result in a title was a game-tying two-run double in the 8th by the Red Sox' Dom DiMaggio in Game 7 of the '46 World Series against St. Louis, which was bettered by #13 on the list, Harry Walker's game-winning hit in the bottom of that same inning.
  25. It was so reassuring to know we're paying sideline reporters to do horsefeathering ads for HBO during the game instead of, you know, actually reporting on something.
