Things I learned today: - Apparently being the face of ND football is more than enough by itself to knock a great player down NINETEEN spots from where he could've and should've been taken. Cleveland got ass-lucky. - Carolina doesn't always do what I want them to do. I wanted them to take Quinn at 14, then after they traded down, I wanted Greg Olsen at 25. I'm not a Beason guy, but considering our office's record of draft success, I can't complain too much. And they went out and had a fantastic 2nd and 3rd round getting Jarrett, Kalil (who I wanted with the pick they snatched Jarrett with), and Charles Johnson. All they need to do now is take a token ND guy on day 2 and me loves the draft. - Miami is galactically stupid. A KICK RETURNER AT THE NINE SPOT? - The Bears getting Olsen is the 2nd-biggest steal of the draft behind Quinn at 22. For a while I was terrified - TERRIFIED - that they'd trade up, get Quinn, and become an NFC dynasty. Olsen worries me less - but only slightly less. - San Diego had a terrible first day. Craig Davis, a guy who was nowhere near the top of the boards at the time he was picked? Trading half your picks to get Eric Weddle? - SF had the best 1st day overall - Willis is going to be awesome and Joe Staley was a great pickup, plus they got a 1st rounder back in a trade with Indy.
