  7. I've never been a fan of using timeouts in play-clock-running-down situations. The odds are much better that you'll want that timeout later than the 5 yards mattering.
  8. Noted: I wanted Carolina to draft Mason Crosby. Granted, John Kasay is pretty much money too, but Crosby's going to be good for a while. This is shaping up to be a hell of a finish.
  9. Holy crap, this game. What a ridiculous play just now.
  10. It's ok, girls, you'll go back to clobbering everybody and having everyone in the nation slurp Tyler Hansbrough soon. They actually havent killed anybody all season, except for the really really bad teams, and State. All the other games (BYU, Clemson, Davidson, and Georgia Tech) were close games that easily could have gone either way. P.S. Hansbrough is not that good. He should not even be on ACC first-team IMO. I'm with you. I've never thought that much of Hansbrough. He's a really tough player and everything but ND's Luke Harangody is pretty much the exact same player (hard-nosed undersized power forward who gets close to a double-double a game) but gets much less hoopla because UNC is No. 1, and because they are UNC. ETA: Upon further review Hansbrough actually does get a double-double a game (21.6 and 10, vs Luke's 19.3 and 9.6)
  11. Ball State wins a thriller over Eastern Michigan 64-60 despite only 19 combined points from its two stars, Peyton Stovall and Anthony Newell. 20 by Malik Perry carries BSU to a win they needed to have. 2-2 in the MAC.

  13. Harangody still got 13 and 8 but it took him 13 FG attempts to get those 13. I'm not buying ND as a tourney team until they do something about that 1-4 record away from home (with the one win over Monmouth in the Virgin Islands).
  14. Notre Dame flat-out sucks on the road. They're never going to get anywhere with the selection committee if they can't play on the road.
  15. I hate you  Woodson is uber talented, but a boom or bust pick, IMO. Factor in the Bears, and this adds up to a bust. I really like this kid Joe Flacco out of Delaware in the later rounds.... flacco hightligts You can't have Flacco...I want the Panthers to draft him. Seems like a classic Carolina thing to do to spring on this guy in the 3rd round...they love trying to dig up an unheralded QB.
  16. Funny, I'm on the waiting list but didn't get an email. I call shenanigans.
  17. Good old Coach Cal. If you play in a conference that doesn't prep you at all for the tournament you might want to play those games on the road. In fairness, Memphis and UT rotate, though I don't know how their Gonzaga deal is working.
  18. Until two years from now, when he's replaced by an inferior running backs coach just because he happens to be related to a famous coach from the past What? He is also the assistant head coach as well as running back coach. It was a Chris Simms joke.
  19. Ball State gets killed at home. Film at eleven.
  20. Back to normal for Notre Dame players this year (i.e. no one going very high). Was surprised to see Trevor Laws all the way down at round 3 though - and behind Tom Zbikowski, who I'm not sure about in the pros, to boot. I'd have thought Laws's insane 2007 would have gotten him into round 2 at least.

  22. I voted Cubs just because it looks like the Bulls and Bears are both a good deal of time away from being serious competitors again.
  23. ND clobbers Cincy 91-74. 31 in a row at home, 3-1 in the Big East. Good day.
  24. Notre Dame vs. Cincinnati tonight. IF (in capital letters) ND can win this game and split the two upcoming games at Georgetown and Villanova, they'll be 4-2 with no really tough road games left and have a very good chance at going at least 12-6 in the Big East, which would sew up a tourney berth. In my delusional mind I'd rather have 13-5 or 14-4 to up the seed and have a chance at winning the BET, but I'm not holding out much hope for that.
