  1. FONTASTIC!!!! Dear lord, this is going to be a rout after the 1st inning disaster!
  2. Fukuwalk He's been on base all 9 games so far
  3. Yeah, why give a young player a chance to learn from his mistakes. Yeah, who cares about improving your chances of winning. Reed Johnson really gave us something that Pie couldn't have right there. Besides, it's april and we're facing matt morris - what better time to let someone who is supposed to be our top prospect play? If people aren't ever willing to let a young guy play through his struggles, well, then it's no wonder we rarely ever have a decent position player prospect. It's not like our prospects go elsewhere, play with more 'patient' managers, and flourish, though. Corey's doing pretty well with Cincy right now, but I can't think of any recent example of a former Cubs 'bust' doing anything with anyone else. Good DP there.
  4. Fonzie and Fontenot make a good team up there, haha. Let's go MVLee.
  5. Agreed. We gave him an extended look last year and he sucked then, so this isn't necessarily a sample size issue. You can't play the young guys just for the sake of playing them, they have to at least show something out there. That's coming off incredibly Dustyish, I imagine.
  6. Lieber in, and so is Reed. Great job all around.
  7. I'm all for honoring the dude. Give every player in the majors jersey patches if you want to. I just don't see the point in retiring the number if it's going to be allowed to be worn. I know it's a different issue, but I'd be ticked if a Bull wore MJ's 23 no matter what the intent was. Do you know who Jackie Robinson is? Thank you for addressing the point. I know full well who Jackie is. He deserves honoring. But if you're retiring a number league-wide, retire it 365 days a year, not 364. You might as well let people wear it year-round anyway - that's what a lot of people were doing before Bud retired it.

  9. Am I the only one who thinks the 42 thing is kind of stupid? Nope. What's stupid about it? What's the point of retiring a number in the first place if you're going to let it be worn again every year? Gee, I don't know...maybe to freakin honor him? You're honoring him by retiring the number!!!

  12. Alright, next start let's get Lou to tell Rich he already pitched the first inning and see what happens.
  13. heh, i never thought about that. that's funny. Would it still be a sac fly if an outfielder dropped a fly ball, but the runner from 3rd still scored? Seems like it would. No, that would be reaching on an error, no RBI, I assume. Geovany Soto. That doesn't make any sense. So the fielder makes a mistake, and the hitter is penalized? I know that usually if a run is scored in the case of an error, no rbi is recorded, but in this case the run would be scored, regardless of the error. I would guess you can't assume the sac fly, just like you can't assume a DP even if Theriot flings one over Lee's head trying to double up Carlos Lee. No matter how obvious it is, you can't score it that way. And Morris throws the best pitch of his life (never seen him throw a curve like that) followed by Sanchez making a ridiculous backhanded play. That's my Cubs.
  14. Corey is leading the NL in homers. Alright Riot! Two on one out, let's go PIE!

  16. Thank heavens. Let's get them back now. Fuku and Soto can go a long way toward making that happen.
