    Same. I picked Fontenot figuring I might as well take the guaranteed 10 homers or so rather than trying to make a play for a risk. Oops.

    Good. I like the guy but he's very expendable especially if Noah keeps improving.

    Hey, he's back! If Memphis is dumb enough to take Thabeet over Rubio (and they absolutely are), they deserve what they get. Keep dreaming on that scenario.

    I will miss the next two games, one due to work and the other due to visiting friends back at school, and I'm not the least bit perturbed by it. You know this team is annoying me when I don't even blink at missing a Z vs Peavy start.

    The thing is (all caps for emphasis) MILES CAN'T PLAY A LOT OF POSITIONS. He's a second baseman. Shortstop if you want horrible defense, other positions if you have an absolute emergency, but he can't play multiple positions! He's a second baseman! This team is so bad right now.

    No one was arguing Rasmus was a reject-pile type story for the Cardinals like everyone else in today's lineup except Pujols is...I was just annoyed because Rasmus was OPSing like .400 against lefties before this series.

    Former 1st round pick with power, speed and good D, but terrible pitch recognition. Sounds like every Cubs prospect ever Except they're all injured or flamed out by now. Man, I'm just angry at everything tonight.

    Gotta love how Rasmus suddenly destroys lefthanded pitching as soon as the Cubs come to town.

    Same thing with Fontenot Frankly, at this point the Cubs are better off flying to San Diego and regrouping.

    The last two days. Or are the Cubs just looking that bad? The Cardinals have scored 5 runs on us the last two days even though we're playing defense like nine Jake Foxes. Don't be fooled.

    I think the Marlins were the better team in 2003. After they brought up Cabrerra in May they had the best record in baseball. They were no fluke. Yeah, they probably were, although you could also argue that the Cubs were also very, very good from midseason on and had the best pitcher in baseball at the time (certainly the hottest) in Prior. But really, I just look at that as a failure because we were up 3-1 and pretty much dominated the series for 4 7/9 games.

    Pixie dust works on the baseballs too. And Jake Fox might as well get called up at some point. There's no point in having David Patton around.

    Apparently the St. Louis Cardinals are the greatest pitching staff ever assembled.

    We never seem to score on the west coast either. When do we play a team that will allow us to score again? Home vs Pittsburgh next week. We should be fine then. Write off the next five games though.

    The Cubs haven't 'gone cold' for 101 years. They were a bad team for like 94 of those years, got caught by a white-hot team in 1969, lost to better teams in the playoffs in 1984, 1989 and 1998, lost to a team kind of maybe sort of on their level in 2007, 'went cold' in 2008, and had the 2003 collapse. The Cubs' playoff failures are spectacularly overdramatized because they've been so bad other times.

    Yeah I'm going to have MLB.tv so I should be able to watch every game as long as I'm not work. I'm also going to try and find a bar that is either big into MLB or is Cubs fan hangout. You can probably Google things like that.
