  1. Closer quality or better quality than Kevin Gregg?
  2. I loathe this team. Just really loathe them. Kind of just wish they'd go away right now.
  3. Says more about the team than Lee, but Derrek's point has been taken. He's not a corpse just yet.
  4. Gameday says he's only thrown 72 pitches. He can definitely complete this thing, and it would be awesome if he did.
  5. Jones was one of my favorites as a kid. At least it wasn't some chump like Blanco who broke it up.
  6. And Bud Selig breathes a sigh of relief. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> for Wells. Another masterpiece.
  7. In every year prior to 05, he pretty much sucked until June. In 07 and 08, he actually played worse in June. So in sum, I have no idea what to make of him.
  8. Hey, Escobar might have gotten a hit on the next pitch. You never know. Hypotheticaly, if the rest of the game goes the same way, and thats the only Braves baserunner, would they be able to overturn it and make it a perfect? I could see that not happening for the same reason they wouldn't go back for CC Sabathia's one-hitter last year — the "pressure" or whatever.
  9. I'm mixing up my bad Braves middle infielders.
  10. Got Lilly tossed for a barely-inside pitch in 07, then elbowed Fontenot in the face trying to steal second.
  11. Better yet, why didn't Soto say anything? Wasn't he behind the plate when Braun did it too? He'd probably get tossed and suspended 3 games for letting the ump shove him or something.
  12. Isn't that like the 3rd time just in recent years that someone's gotten an HBP on a foul ball against us? Berkman, Braun, now this guy. Does it happen like that to other teams? The only other time I can recall was that horribly bad HBP call in the 05 World Series. Randy Wells is absolutely awesome.
  13. Pansies. I'm not a fan of either team, but that game is usually a heck of a lot more entertaining than most opening weekend garbage. Why not play 1 quality non-con opponent? I understand losing a home game hurts, but come on, give the fans a show. I like the whole 1/2 and 1/2 crowd thing in the border city, too. Until some sort of rule is made, no one is going to play anybody OOC. Outside of traditional rivalries, only Ohio State (give them some credit even though they have 8 home games every year) and USC seem interested in playing ANYONE outside their conference.
  14. Sean Marshall is receiving the 2nd biggest screw job by a pitcher from a Cubs' manager this decade, behind Prior. The only saving grace to this screw job is that he'll still have the use of his arm afterwards. But seriously, this is ridiculous. Marshall has been hosed at every turn and I'm sick of it.
  15. ...which is a ridiculous argument because if Jordan was in the west he would have been to multiple finals at this point. Pretty much what I was going to post. Let's put LeBron in the late-80's to early-90's East, with Boston, Detroit and everybody else and let's see if he can even make it to the conference finals. If MJ was in the current East he'd be working on at least Finals No. 2 and probably more. Because those Lakers teams were just complete pushovers and were annihilated in the finals every year that there's no way the Bulls would have lost to them. The Bulls CRUSHED the Lakers in 1991 and were one MJ missed shot in OT away from a sweep. Is it so unbelievable to think they'd have either beaten them or avoided them through the West playoffs prior to that year?
  16. Of the ones I've had, which aren't many of those, I like Jimmy John's the most, rather easily. Quizno's Chicken Carbonara, though, is yummy. Subway is not too bad either.

  18. Get more play from the ladies when on the road would be my best guess.
  19. Not to pull a Sulleymon here, but Michael Jordan never, not once, lost a playoff series to a lower-seeded team.
  20. If a position player does all of that, he probably gets 3-5 games, which is actually 3-5 games. But like you said, this is basically a 1-game suspension at best. Like I said right after the whole thing happened, suspensions for starting pitchers are always a joke and are nowhere near as bad as those for position players. They seem worse because they get more games but that's before you factor in that a starter only pitches one out of five games. Theoretically, any suspension for a starting pitcher should be five times as long as the suspension a position player would get for the same offense. Unfortunately, that's not how MLB hands out its suspensions. On the other hand, it seems patently unfair to me to have a pitcher miss more than one of 30-some games they play in versus a position player missing 3-5 of 162. The math still adds up to hurting the pitcher more in that fashion.
  21. No, Izturis was not a good fielder. Not for us anyway. Blanco actually is. I'm totally in favor of dumping Miles and keeping Blanco around as a late-inning defense guy. And he's probably just as good a hitter as Miles is.
  22. That would be outstanding. Oh my lord, I'd lose my mind. Too good to be true.
  23. There is no way on Earth that a non-rusty MJ lets the Bulls lose to Orlando. They only lost in 6, one of those losses coming when Jordan turned the ball over on late possessions back to back times, which never ever happens. Yes, the Rockets swept Orlando. No, that doesn't really mean much of anything in relation to how they'd have played the Bulls.
  24. Does Heilman have a 'pitches thrown' incentive in his contract? Someone get on this.
