  1. No worries, Weis is white and arrogant so no one will run around trying to credit him for the next coach's success (if he has any). Stoops just said he'll be at Oklahoma next year, so that might be scuttled.
  2. Rob Ianello, recruiting coordinator, is the interim coach.
  3. CubinNY post about "decided schematic advantage", "X's and O's", "genius", or something else coming within next 15 minutes. Anyway, good luck to him going back to being an NFL offensive coordinator, his true calling. Meanwhile, I await (hopefully) Stoops.
  4. Ivan Maisel just tweeted that Ole Miss will play in the Cotton Bowl again.
  5. Back on track for my team, so far the highest-scoring team of the week. Me and dew are the two highest-scoring teams and we're in 5th and 6th. This is very weird.
  6. This will be the thread for all college football discussion between now and the bowl games, including non I-A playoffs and Army-Navy. The following info is for this week only. 7. Story of my football teams in 2009: Carolina is 4-7, the team I have to live in the same area as is 11-0 with 3 Houdini escape jobs in a row, and yet my team is still picking after they do first in the draft, due to my team's own stupidity. Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
  8. The ACC's BCS bid must be taken away ASAP. That conference has been horrible for quite some time now.
  9. September 2010 can't come fast enough.
  10. Pete Carroll and Jim Harbaugh trying to out-douche each other is the most intriguing race in the Pac-10 this season.
  11. Same game every [expletive] week. Every [expletive] week. The ONE time we need the offensive line to step the [expletive] up and block somebody. 3 1/2 quarters they're a machine on the line and the last 2 drives they stop blocking. I seriously can't [expletive] believe this anymore. Go home Charlie.
  12. This is the worst [expletive] defense I've seen in my [expletive] life as a football fan. They can't even suck right. God forbid you let Gerhart score so we can have a minute to score back.
  13. Even though it would result in the predictable (and deserved) catcalls for a completely undeserved bowl bid, I'd like to see ND win this and get a Gator Bowl pick. Because this is the last year the Gator can pick Notre Dame, they're supposedly desperate to take them. But the defense is going to have to step up a bit to make that happen.
  14. I cannot BELIEVE that Mangino passed twice there. Unreal. I REALLY can't believe that he passed a third time for a safety. What a moron.
  15. CBS is running down Tebow's greatest hits during a freaking game. Ugh.
  16. I would rather watch KU/Mizzou than Miami/USF. Meh.
  17. Notre Dame's annual out of conference clunker. At one point I think we went 3 minutes without shooting a 2-pointer, which is exactly what Northwestern wanted us to do. This pretty much ensures we're going to have to go off in the Big East since we're probably going to find a way to lose to UCLA too.
  18. Yeah, the Giants aren't very good. I said two weeks ago that I don't think they'll make the playoffs and tonight hurt them for sure.
  19. If you want a break from the football, ESPN has a tripleheader of hoops tomorrow culminating in UConn/Duke in the preseason NIT final.
  20. 100,000 times agree.
  21. But I'm dropping the subject going forward because it's taking up too much space in this thread. Didn't realize losing money to go to a crap bowl and probably lose to a MAC team was looked at as such a good idea by others.
  22. It has nothing whatsoever to do with a sense of entitlement and more to do with the fact that ND would likely lose money going to that bowl game and has very little to gain from it. Yes, practice time, but if the new coach isn't ready/able to coach the bowl game, what good does practice time under a lame-duck coaching staff do? Not to mention the predictable media laugh-fest if ND lost to Central Michigan - which I'm certain they would do. yeah, notre dame's strapped for cash. probably can't afford a charter to detroit or wherever the hell that bowl is. abuck's philosophy: If you're rich, then you are under orders to piss away money for no real reason simply to appease people who hate you who think you have a sense of entitlement. Really, people like you are going to hate Notre Dame whether they go to a pathetic bowl or not, so why should they do it just to shut you up? Everyone knows you wouldn't shut up anyway.
  23. Seriously, there aren't a whole lot of reasons to go to a Pizza Bowl, but if it makes you feel better to make up some sense of entitlement that doesn't exist, then go ahead. If Notre Dame actually does turn down a bowl game I think the media would hit them just as hard over that......."who does ND think they are, etc, blah blah". Yes teams lose money on bowl games sometimes. It happens. But I've never ever heard of any team seriously consider refusing a bowl game to stay home for the holidays. So when that talk comes in involving Notre Dame, yes it absolutely is going to be associated with the idea of a "sense of entitlement". Notre Dame did the same thing in 1996 when Holtz left. There wasn't much of a point going to a bowl game then, and there isn't much of a point doing it now. Again, with the caveat that if Stoops/Kelly/whoever gets hired and wants to coach the bowl game that it would be worthwhile to get the kids some time with the new staff.
  24. Pretty nice way to end the season. WMU's no joke - at least not inside the MAC. The Cards will get just about everyone back next year and Kelly Page should be much improved. Eric Williams and Cory Sykes can flat-out play. Can't wait to see them as a RB tandem next fall.
