  1. The Big Ten isn't going to go out of their way to accommodate anybody.
  2. Ya know, it's really not fair that there's virtually no footage of Jay Williams crashing his motorcycle from which I could MSPaint Derrick Roses's face on to. Only if you have Bias and Lewis snorting a giant mountain of coke off in the corner.
  3. Bunting with Castro, letting Grabow pitch at all, pitching Marmol instead of Marshall when Grabow sucked and pinch-hitting someone else besides Soto for Koyie Hill AGAIN go down as idiotic Lou moves of the night.
  4. I don't get all the Len hate. I mean, he has a really great voice and his homerun calls rock. I don't think Len's voice is annoying either, and while it would be great if he always knew right away if a fly ball was a homer, I like the spontaneity in his home run calls.
  5. Zambrano's out of here. The Cubs' character assassination campaign has already kind of started with these little blurbs about Z being unhappy in the pen.
  6. I love this idea. I love the idea that it's not finalized because they're working on more meetings in the future even more.
  7. All one needs to do is look at the way the Cubs' media handles Piniella to know that Chicago's media is not going to create a pressurized environment.
  8. Jesus H, I just turned to ESPN2 after not following much sports today apart from Celts/Cavs to hear LaRussa bitching and crying AGAIN. Are you [expletive] serious?
  9. I don't see the Cavs going for Deng for LeBron unless a no. 1 pick or two changes hands too. But holy hell would that be amazing.
  10. i don't really get the point of these comments. people have this memory of jordan who would singlehandedly will his team to victory in the playoffs - and yes, he usually took the last shot - but he had good players around him and that's why they won. lebron has mediocre players around him and doesn't win. maybe he's not as good as jordan but it's dumb to denigrate him against a guy who clearly had a better supporting cast. The comparisons to him were dumb to begin with, so we are taking the stupidity to its logical conclusion. BTW, MJ never failed to win a championship as the #1 seed and LeBron has now done it twice. (He deserves some credit, of course, for getting to the #1 seed to begin with considering his supporting cast, but still.)
  11. That not fouling thing is unbelievable. They just flat-out quit. The entire city is going to disown them.
  12. 9 turnovers for King James.
  13. I really kind of can't believe this is happening. I thought Orlando might take Cleveland but not this Boston team. Amazing.
  14. I drive through Elkhart when I cover games for the News-Sun. That's about the nicest thing I can say about it.
  15. Bill Simmons has done it again. His CelticsChants Twitter account originated that tonight.
  16. They did? Jordan, Grant, Armstrong, and Pippen all played at least 77 games. Those were the only four players on the team.
  17. Scottie Pippen is an NBA Hall of Famer and was in the prime of his career and there were some solid guys around him, and the NBA as a whole wasn't all that great in the mid to late 90s. My point is Pippen's supporting cast was worse than Jordan's in '93 and the Bulls wound up 2 wins worse. Scottie Pippen is probably the most underrated player in NBA history because he was stuck in Jordan's shadow the entire time. LBJ doesn't have a Scottie Pippen. He could come to the Bulls next year, and he still wouldn't have a Scottie Pippen. The '93 Bulls had lots of injuries and the '92 Bulls won 67 games. The '93 Bulls' record isn't really an accurate barometer.

  19. So is Anderson Varejo JJ Hickson isn't He's not great, but in '88 the Bulls were freaking awful. Pippen and Grant were nothing. They won 50 games and were the 3 seed. Wait, so LeBron is God and the rest of the Cavs blow and they win 60+ games, but when the Bulls won 50 in '88 it was because MJ's supporting cast was so good? That's convenient.
  20. I have no problem with Castro out of the 8 spot, its just funny to me that once again Lou says one thing repeatedly, and then within a week he completely ignores what he said. In a related story, Tyler Colvin has started once in the month of May.
  21. I've never in my life seen a baseball team with so many guys playing at least reasonably well that sucked so much.
  22. Notre Dame is finalizing a home and home with Gonzaga and will host the Bulldogs on Dec. 11th. They're going to play Kentucky on Dec. 8th in Freedom Hall for the Big East/SEC Invite. Between that and the Old Spice Classic, we should have three good non-conference games, which will be up from squadoosh this last season.
  23. You're not sure why they would extend an offer to ND? In light of the statements coming from the athletic department, yes. Especially after all those reports that the Big Ten wasn't going to offer them anything and that they'd basically have to beg on their knees to get membership. Statements aren't all that meaningful, actions speak louder than words, and it was quite obvious all along that the big ten was going to make a push for ND. Nobody should be surprised that they would make an offer. Fair enough. I think I'm more with Butters's post three above this one than I am any other in this thread.

  25. Missouri in the Big Ten makes sense. What I'm not sure about is why they extended ND an offer when the athletic director has been saying only a seismic shift would make that happen. Pre-emptive move I guess?
