Would it be too mean of me to be entertained if the SEC secretly courts Texas as the 14th team after A&M? In reality it will probably be Virginia Tech, with the ACC adding UCF or something.

The Panthers O/U being 4.5 seemed low until Cam Newton went 6/19 last night against the damn Bengals. Now I'm not sure we'll win a game all year.

Yeah, that's not going to happen. But who knows what might shake down if the super conferences come to fruition. I like that Swarbrick has been keeping tight with Texas. There are worse allies to have in cfb. ND and UT don't have to worry about anything. They don't need allies. They can get into any conference they want. I don't disagree that they don't need each other to survive. But word is nd and ut have been pretty close during the conference shake-ups. I like that the 2 AD's have shared thoughts and have some influence on each other. That's all. Yeah, any relationship ND can build with Texas is good. I'm thrilled they set up their 4-game series for later this decade, and if that Thanksgiving match-up could be worked, I'd be all for it. Old Style, any insight as to how long this whole "option exploring" thing is going to last before we know what's going on?

That and women's basketball. You see there's little thing called Title IX. Prime Minister Pelosi should be able to explain further. We haven't even been known for women's basketball for a decade. Also, I didn't mean 'staring quarterback' haha. I meant starting. You still have Marve though, right?

Supposedly part of why SMU went into the toilet for so long too is because even after the program was back, the school imposed such high academic and other such standards on football players that it proved pretty much impossible to compete.

Wasn't Marve already hurt by then? Or was he hurt in that game? Henry played most of it IIRC.

There is absolutely no reason to even be floating the possibility that Hendry might be retained for next year. If true that's pretty much the only data point I need to form an opinion on the current ownership team.

FWIW, Buster Olney says the Cubs knew within 2 hours of the game last night that Z wasn't retiring and that Carlos in fact returned his stuff to his locker late last night.

I saw nothing else on the matter but there was a blurb on the ESPN bottom line today that said Florida St was considering an SEC move too. Hard to believe but I suppose not impossible. The ACC would probably just grab a Big East school or perhaps Central Florida to replace them.

I think we're joining the Pac-n, but the thought of OKSt being relegated to a non-BCS school in that scenario intrigues me. If you joined the Pac-n, I'm guessing it'd be a mass migration with OK State, Texas and Texas Tech.

Matt Hayes of Sporting News said it's a big IF, but if the A&M thing happens and if Oklahoma decides not to be the 14th SEC team, Va Tech and Missouri would be considered in OU's stead.

Evidently they are. Just announced they'll be calling Giants/Skins and Albert and Co. will get Bears/Falcons. Sam Rosen continues his Panthers beat reporting out in Arizona.

19 and whatever you call DePaul. How would that schedule even work? I mean, two ten-team divisions and no inter-division play? Probably 18-game schedule and no game against one team. I guess?

There are lots of nice guys in the NFL, but only Tebow has been able to parlay being nice into getting people to completely ignore that he's not good at being an NFL quarterback, and isn't likely to get good either. look i don't think he'll be much good either, but he only played parts of 9 games and had 82 passes thrown, and he wasn't terrible. it's a bit early to just say he sucks. Until he stops taking 5 seconds to go from the start to end of his throwing motion, gets more accurate and/or gets much faster, I don't think it is.

The prevailing rumor is that Mizzou/KU/KSU/ISU would become part of some sort of mutant Big East. I imagine the rest would be split amongst the SEC and Pac-12, and Baylor joins the new MWC or something. But seriously, the aTm fans are in such a little brother rage over LHN that they're making up SECede T-shirts and believing every made up rumor that sounds like they'd go to the SEC. I wonder if they realize that reinforces the stereotype. Yeah, Mizzou and Kansas would definitely end up in the Big East under that scenario. I'm not sure what the league would end up doing with its basketball-only members.

Sam Rosen: Voice of the San Francisco 49ers Carolina Panthers. I watched the first few Panthers games last year and I'm pretty sure Rosen did about 4 of them.
