The Blackhawks' first home games in the playoffs are on the Sunday and Tuesday following the beginning of the playoffs. So we can be fairly certain the Bulls will not be playing either day. Get ready for a Saturday/Wednesday beginning (assuming the NBA pulls their usual BS of dragging the first round into oblivion).
So today the Cubs send their Answer Man http://a323.yahoofs.com/ymg/ept_sports_mlb_experts__12/ept_sports_mlb_experts-782275068-1221758343.jpg?ymiOYrAD8wwIFnT1 to the mound to try and stop this ridiculous nonsense we call 'losing'. Lucky for the Cubs, the elixir served them in aid of this quest is one that's proven to be very effective: the Houston Astros. So Geovany Soto returns to the scene of his inside the park homer, and if he wants to revisit that night, he will have to do it against one Nelson Figueroa, who some believe will have the light shining upon him due to the fact he's facing the Cubs. http://ohmurph.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/nelson-figueroa.jpg Apropos of nothing: http://www.cubby-blue.com/.a/6a00d83451fe4669e2013487524ff0970c-800wi Go Cubs! I don't think so. I pretty sure somebody posted 3-0 on CSN and 0-3 on WGN coming into the series which puts the Cubs at 4-1 on CSN and 0-4 on WGN now. The Cubs have sucked on WGN forever. Even in 08, I'm pretty sure they were barely over .500 on WGN.
Notre Dame will probably finish 6th or 7th in the Big East, make the tournament again and lose early again. I look forward to watching Scott and Abromaitis and the development of Eric Atkins, but my excitement level is still very muted after the crappy final 2.5 games ND closed the season with.
Yeah, I was in some of those AIM chats and a good deal of the people I remember regularly being in them don't post in game threads hardly ever anymore.
Three questions for Mike Quade: 1) Why is Reed Johnson hitting vs a RHP in the 9th when we're losing and Kosuke Fukudome is available? 2) Why is Darwin Barney hitting 2nd, ever? 3) Why is Marlon Byrd hitting 3rd, ever?
I'm not a huge fan of taking yet another QB, but I also don't love anyone else at the top and much as I would like to believe it's not true, there's no reason to believe Clausen will ever get Carolina to where they want to go. So I'll take Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri.
I really have not been a fan of Turner's need to shoehorn their broadcast crew into the tournament. With the possible exception of Barkley. And it also kept Jay Bilas out of the tournament, a huge negative.
Group A: Albert Pujols Group B: Adrian Gonzalez, Carlos Gonzalez Group C: Troy Tulowitzki, Matt Holliday, Ryan Braun Group D: Jason Heyward, Justin Morneau, Kendry Morales, Ike Davis, Geovany Soto Wild Card: Will PM
Between dead students, getting spanked by Navy, losing to Tulsa, ND's spectacularly pathetic exit from the NCAA tournament, and now this, it's been a heck of a last six months in South Bend.
I'm not remotely surprised. FSU was a hideous matchup for Notre Dame, and it didn't help that just like in Morgantown, the game was more or less officiated like a football game. Kudos to the Noles. They played about as well as it was possible for them to play for about the first 25 minutes, and that was more than enough.
If that answer is remotely true, it exemplifies why I dislike UNC even more than Duke, because you know Heel fans will be whining about every call Duke gets against Michigan (and there will probably be many).
If Notre Dame struggles the Big East could be down to two teams in the Sweet Sixteen. Big assist to the committee on that for needlessly scheduling two Big East games in the 2nd round. I still don't understand that. Would've been as easy as switching Cincy with UCLA and Marquette with Penn State. But picking against the Big East to do big things seemed sensible to me this year. Incredibly deep conference, but each team had flaws.
