  1. Beat the pants off somebody like Alabama did while they play Ole Miss or Kentucky or whomever and you'll jump right back.
  2. I'm sure in a couple of years the NCAA will mandate this for basketball too. ETA: Does the Summit League have a TV contract? On Versus U Shut it. Versus is home to at least 1 ND game this year. KU can find it's own second...er...third rate channel. I don't believe that starts until next year.
  3. I personally love Tampa Bay. Have since mid-2010.

  5. That's because the coaches' poll is [expletive] garbage.
  6. It's nice that Carolina's good enough to play at least even with their opponent on offense and defense 3 out of 4 weeks. It'd be nice of 2 of those 3 weeks we didn't lose due to crappy special teams play.
  7. Can someone find an actual quote where he referenced Illinois or responded in a derogatory way about Illinois? Fitzgerald has had his share of douchey quotes, but it's true that none of the ones in this thread specifically mentioned Illinois. Possibly weren't even referring to them at all.
  8. The most glaring part of that statement is that if the season is played, many owners will (at least claim to) lose money. I'm not sure how much I believe that claim, but most owners are willing to sacrifice a year for a more beneficial system.
  9. After 2006, nothing STL does would surprise me. Philly is definitely the better team by far on paper, but we'll see.
  10. Way to hack at ball 4 on the 3-1 pitch, Freeman. Here's to three consecutive perfect games by the Legion of Arms.
  11. Broken bat nubber. Of course.
  12. I'm probably biased but if I were Philly I'd be dying to play STL and therefore be trying to win this game. Their offense is real weak outside Albert and their pitching isn't good enough to make up for it. Arizona's got a scarier top of the rotation. Wrong, because that goes against what I want. Oh, me too. Just trying to explain what could be Philly's rationale.

  14. The US Naval Academy operated a base out of ND during WWII without which the school very possibly would've gone under. ND has played Navy every year ever since (already had played them yearly since the 20s) to repay the 'debt of honor' or whatever you want to call it. That series will never end and I'm fine with that.
  15. And Nick Punto follows with an RBI double. I mean, I know counting on freaking Houston to keep STL out of the playoffs is a fool's errand, but Theriot and Punto? Really?
  16. Pretty horrible loss for them, but I'm not counting those guys out til they're out.
  17. Cubs baseball is so depressing we aren't even openly rooting against the Cardinals in a tight playoff race anymore.
  18. Best of luck to you guys. I expect an easy Bears victory. Hopefully Cam can look better than he did against GB. Look for a lot of Jonathan Stewart - he's significantly outplaying DeAngelo Williams so far this year.
  19. Pomeroy just tweeted something saying you have less than 50 percent chance of winning if you elect to tie a football game with 2 minutes left, so you may not be.
  20. I had totally forgot about this. was he on that SB team? I'm about 99% sure of this. Wasn't that the same game Tim Brown scored his 100th career TD - for Tampa, oddly enough - or did that come later?
  21. Between Notre Dame and the Panthers, I don't think it's possible to have an uglier 2-0 football weekend. Cam looked absolutely awful, though I'm not too surprised by that - I expected a step back. Brutal October ahead (Bears, Saints, Falcons, Skins, Vikes), I'd be thrilled if we managed to win 2 of the 5 games.
  22. I'd have preferred to get smoked by the #1 team in the country rather than #2, so I'm not pleased with this development. It doesn't matter, of course. I will be interested to see how Keith Wenning looks against a great team after he's played very well against 3 bad ones (and not so well against USF).
  23. The only reason I can think of is to allow coaches to use challenges on other plays. Probably under the guise of getting as many important calls right as possible.

  25. Robert Griffin III as of this moment has 13 TD passes and 12 incompletions. He's done late in a Baylor blowout of Rice, so he'll take those numbers into next week.
