    God it was freezing out there. Seems warmer when the Cubs win though.

    Not that it cost us the game (LeBron going Keyser Soze again at the end and Rose being a kid again at the end did), but I'm really getting tired of the NBA rewarding flopping. I may be biased but it seems like the Bulls don't do much of it and because of that they don't get the same calls that a team like Miami, who throws themselves all over the court in absolute desperation for calls, gets. Hell, Wade missed that layup on which Rose tapped his elbow basically because he was more concerned with making it look like he got fouled than he was about making the damn shot.

    I could only hear part of this story. Anyone mind telling me how this happened? He got called up by the Orioles in early August. Later in August the O's were playing a continued game (against the WS I think) from April and he got a hit in that game. The official box score of the game has the April date, so he got a hit at least 3 months before he was called up. I think I remember that story. He probably told it last year when it happened.

    Well, of the 3 games so far that have surrounded my trips to Wrigley, the Cubs have scored 11 runs 3 times. The last time I actually went to Wrigley, we scored 1. So we'll see how the next two days go when I'm at the games.

    It would have taken an absolute mauling for him to draw a foul there. why? the refs are actually an advantage in that sitution if youre a superstar I'm trying not to sound like I'm whining about how the refs treat Rose, but he has tried the 'go into the paint out of control and pinball through guys' thing a lot in the playoffs and he hasn't gotten the whistle most of the time. No reason to see if they'd do it in a late-game situation where it's been shown that refs don't like to call fouls. That play should have been a pass. Both Deng and Korver were absolutely wide open for jumpers.

    Boozer needs to at least go up stronger. At the least he would likely draw a couple of more foul calls. When you're fading away from the basket going up for a close-in shot, you're not going to a get a call.

    Very little to add on this game except that I knew Russell would be left out there too long and about 45 seconds after observing it aloud with my friends, Saltalamacchia homered.

    I didn't really have a problem with the way the game was officiated when the Heat were on offense, the problem was that the standard for a foul didn't cut both ways. On one particular play, Noah forced Bosh into the air, jumped into him while taking a shot (which the Heat did a handful of times) and didn't get the same call Miami was getting. Bottom line though, the Bulls lost mostly because Noah was practically invisible, Boozer was his usual hideous self on defense (although he had a pretty nice game offensively) and Rose played like an idiot most of the second half. It sucks for him that so much is on his shoulders, but when he plays like he has a ton on his shoulders, he's awful.

    I kind of can't believe we haven't been to Oakland. I just assumed we had. I'll enjoy this weekend's series. Will be fun.

    Yessir. It was he and Neifi teaming up for that particular defensive gem. Against Atlanta, if I'm not mistaken. Yep. As I recall, Neifi simply didn't consider the possibility that the second Brave might go for home so he didn't throw the ball till it was way too late.

    That's nice and everything, but every team should plan on having some missed time from their starting pitchers, and the Cubs probably more so than any other. If the fill-ins suck, that's on the team just as much as if the regular guys do. The Cubs should plan for pitching injuries more so than any other team? Why? And you don't think the Cubs wouldn't have signed guys like Davis with that in mind? It was just bad timing that two guys went down after their first starts of the year. Few teams are going to be able to handle that. I'm not denying that it was tough luck. I just think the whole 'we're good with our team intact' thing doesn't hold much water because a MLB pitching rotation is extremely unlikely to stay intact for a whole year.

    James Posey was the Heat who clotheslined Kirk. Wasn't a clothesline, it was a premeditated free-safety hit in the open floor. It was the dirtiest play I've ever witnessed live in the NBA, and considering I watched Rajon Rondo a few years later that is saying something. Haha, ok. Hey man, you're talking about a span of NBA basketball from Posey to Rondo. That IS saying something. And what a coincidence that both plays happened against the Bulls. The remark was clearly qualified with 'witnessed live', so it should be pretty obvious that the chances of it being a Bulls game are exponentially better because of that.

    For just about any outfielder, that's a play that's possible to make, but I don't think anyone thought Fonzie had a chance in hell of getting to that ball.

    Yeah, but the only guy he posterized in that one was Omer. I loved that play. Asik was about to get the rebound and Taj basically stole it from him. His arm was basically parallel to the ground as he swung it back to the rim. God, that was awesome.

    Even if they did mean it there's really no reason to mention it at all. Yeah, I'm not sure what they gain from saying that, especially since 80+ percent of the people who pay any attention rightly believe that that's a load of crap.

    He didn't start yesterday against a lefty. I don't have a problem with starting Johnson, though I do wish we'd give Fukudome more of a chance against lefties here and there.

    I admit to being entertained that basically the second Chris Carpenter stopped being a superace, here comes some guy named Jaime Garcia who instantly becomes one. Do they always have to have at least 1-2 starting pitchers with ERAs hovering around or below 2.00? This bothers me much more when I pay money to watch it happen in person.
