    2015+

So by that time we'll have sucked for two seasons(if you don't count the mediocre 2009 team, which I don't) and punted three more. Awesome.
  2. Very deserving. He's done a great job.
  3. Late time call for some reason. Soriano is on fi-yah.
  4. According to B-R, the 2013 MLB strikeout rate was 19.79% of all plate appearances through yesterday.
  5. And then he gets caught stealing. In the 8th inning when we're down 4. So yeah.
  6. At least Schierholtz and Gregg are rumored to be on the block, as well. I had forgotten about Gregg, although I don't really consider him noteworthy either (although his random resurgence this year has been pretty fun). Schierholtz does fit the profile of trade bait (2nd-year arb next year). That would really hamstring the offense the rest of the year, not that it matters.
  7. In seriousness, though, I don't think this team is going to be that much more unwatchable. Has there been any scuttlebutt that we'll move someone of note besides Garza?
  8. I'd say Wood and nobody else. I can't imagine the Cubs get more than 1, and like David said, Wood is clearly the most deserving (peripherals or not).
  9. Soriano and Castro struck out on nearly-identical pitches in the dirt. Jedi and apprentice.
  10. If nothing else, Strop is really quick. Got great jumps to first on the aborted groundout and on that last chopper.
  11. What a ridiculously late call...whatever it was.
  12. Meet the new Marmol, same as the old Marmol. And nice block of that pitch, Castillo.
  13. Thank goodness. Who's next on our hate list??
  14. Weird because one year they got to the ECF, the next year their superstar tore his acl in the first game and last year we made it to the second round despite injuries to Deng and Hinrich. Not sure where we being tired comes into play. I guess you could make an argument that we could have beaten Miami in the ECF but that's a stretch to say we lost because we were worn out. Or you could say playing so many minutes in a strike shortened season contributed to playoff injuries to Rose and Noah. There is absolutely zero correlation between knee injuries and having been overworked. None. Plantar fasciitis is something just about every single 7-footer in the history of mankind has had, and managing minutes will not make it go away.
  15. You are a very dull human if you think it is fun to watch the process that has been going on here. Agreed. My buddy is a Giants fan, and we were discussing how the Giants have "tortured" their fans the past few years with all their close games. You want torture?? Try being a Cubs fan for over 30 years, then get back to me. I can think of a lot worse teams to be a fan of than the Cubs over the last 30 years. I started watching them in the 70's as a kid. So what have been the shining moments? 1984, 1989, 2003, all major disappointments...along with a bunch of horrible years. Being a Cubs fan is not easy. He wasn't arguing that it's easy. But it would be much worse to be a fan of, say, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh or Baltimore over the last 30 years.
  16. Not a terribly important story, but Urban Meyer is lying again: http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/9448352/urban-meyer-knew-ohio-state-buckeyes-reported-florida-violation-source-says
  17. That was the plan from the start, you know. Someone mentioned that we have to send LA more money if they got rid of him and someone else signed Marmol. Go figure.
  18. I've been watching plenty of baseball on MLBTV, but rarely ever watch a national game unless the Cubs are in it.
