At least two big-conference commissioners (ACC's Swofford and Big 12's Bowlsby) are not so subtly floating the idea that the 'haves' in Division I are going to split up from the 'have-nots', and soon.
So I watched South Carolina twice last season so I may not be the best guy to judge. I saw them play early in the year and almost lose to Vanderbilt I think and I watched them play Michigan in whatever bowl. Except for the "play" where the Michigan rb gets de-helmeted, I barely noticed him in those games. Lewan really had Clowney under control most of the game. Clowney was left un-blocked on the "play". Couple that with a player with too-much hair for his helmet and it looks great, but was not really that great of an individual play. Is he really this clear cut number one without any doubt talent or is it somewhat over-hyped? I haven't seen a ton of Clowney but he's definitely the real deal. Julius Peppers with maybe even more speed and athletic ability, if that's possible.
He may not be Mike Trout, but I'm pretty sure any Rangers fan on the planet would take "a good switch-hitting middle infield player who can maybe hit 20 HR at the tops" out of Profar right now if it was offered.
Well, it clearly can't get any worse, so let's go ahead and use both my post-ASB transactions: Drop McCutchen, add Trout Drop Freeman, add Bryce Harper And I might as well switch my WC from Manny Machado to Troy Tulowitzki while I'm at it.
Meh...$8.5 mil for a projected 1.6 WAR this season. I acquired Cespedes in a fantasy keeper league in the off-season. I remain high on him but he's definitely been frustrating this year.
