  1. IsoD was .067 going into that AB. Not remarkable in and of itself, but didn't he have 1 walk in the first 25 games or something?
  2. I knew this would be a long inning the second JD said it shaped up as an easy one.
  3. Coaches' poll comes out Thursday, while the AP preseason poll comes out Aug. 17. I say it every single damn year but this is the longest off-season ever. Give me football.
  4. Travis Wood is some kind of man.
  5. Two massacred flyouts and one normal flyout. SHUTDOWN CLOSER! Nice win, boys.
  6. DAGGUM RIGHT WE'RE PLAYING THIS UNDER PROTEST
  7. It wasn't even close to being a strike. I'm not watching, where did it miss? Pitch f/x could be off a foot in any direction and that'd still be a strike. It was way low. I'm not sure where Gameday got that but none of the 3 pitches Jackson tried to get Sandoval to chase were anywhere close.
  8. Make indisputably the right move by going after shitty Francoeur and he bloops a double. Go figure.
  9. Trade is now official, and Soriano will bat cleanup for the Yankees tonight.
  10. Neither Coleman nor Rosscup are on the 40 man. I'm curious to see if Cabrera looks good for a few weeks in Iowa out of the pen if he gets a shot some time in August since he's already on it. Given that we just traded Soriano for a guy who's not on the 40-man, I doubt that's an issue It could be if they plan on bringing Scott Baker or Ryan Sweeney back at any time. Good point. I forgot Sweeney was on the 60-day DL.

  12. Just a couple of tweets prior, he'd said the Yankees would be paying 8-12M. Weird.
  13. The Yankees came to Wrigley last time the teams played, so if they follow that the Cubs will go to Yankee Stadium next year.
  14. That turn is why the Cubs keep playing Barney
  15. I saw that too. That's unreal. Sub-.300 ball
  16. I was too. One of the most awesome things I've ever seen at Wrigley. Little-known fact: That was also Samardzija's first big-league win, as he pitched the 12th and 13th innings in relief. (ETA: actually his 2nd. Apparently he won a game in 2008 that I forgot about.) It didn't mean much in the big scheme of things, but I won't soon forget how hard that guy worked to get better on defense going into 2012. Could have won a Gold Glove, which was a ludicrous thought when he first got here.
  17. Soriano's going to be gone from there - not sure who plays LF tonight, though. Maybe DeJesus plays CF and Lake move to LF. ETA: Or this from Muskat:
  18. That said, I'm going to miss him. Been a fun guy to watch play here for the most part over the last 6-plus years.
  19. I'm not sure what there is to be worried about. We're trading a 37-year-old outfielder who hits at about league average and has a year-plus and over $20M left on his deal. What do we really expect?
  20. Remember Cesar Izturis doubling in his first Cubs PA?
  21. Paul Sullivan wrote an article about no-trade clauses today. Don't mind the fact that Soriano's been a 10-5 guy for almost two years now, Sully. Nothing to see here.
  22. Vitters isn't going to sweeten anything, and Olt is far more valuable than anything the Yankees are likely to include in a Soriano trade (although I'd love to be wrong on that).
