  1. It'd be nice if Castro did something besides hit routine grounders to short today
  2. Not watching super close, but pretty sharp. Had a nice 0-1 breaking pitch to Matt Carpenter. Nothing hit real hard yet except a hot shot back to him.
  3. And then the Cubs network. Although I for one would be kind of shocked if pay TV is still going in its current form by that point.
  4. Of all the players on this team that have any reasonable chance of being here next year, Schierholtz, Travis Wood and a couple of middle relievers are pretty much the only ones playing at least as well as they ought to be (add Valbuena too, forgot him since he's been DL'd). So yay for that.
  5. God, this team is a [expletive] train wreck
  6. Len and JD just said Arrieta will join the rotation and Villanueva is going back to the pen. Can't remember the last time the TV guys actually were the first source to make me aware of a Cubs' move.
  7. The problem with the 2005-11 Cubs wasn't the signing of big free agents, it was the utter paucity of contribution from anyone besides free agents.
  8. I know we're playing for 1, but I kinda wish he'd just swung away there.
  9. RGI for Izturis. I can't believe he's 'only' 33.
  10. Lots of people who should go root for the Yankees so their team won't have obstacles anymore ITT
  11. I love that while we talk about how tired out Shark is, Dale's sending him up to bat in the 5th with 100+ pitches already banked.
  12. I know this is meatball-y stupid complaining but it'd be really [expletive] nice if one of our stud trio of Rizzo, Castro and Samardzija could actually have a stud year.
  13. As a Heyward fantasy team owner, I would say he's back to the 'setback' part of his career, though he's been much better lately.
  14. It would definitely be a boon to the Cubs' fortunes if he could hover near an .800 OPS from the catcher position going forward. It's been fun to watch him get better at the plate.
  15. Carlos Corporan HR in the 8th breaks up the no-no bid.
  16. It's just been target practice on our pitchers this weekend, hasn't it?
  17. Of course it was Pete [expletive] Kozma. You'd think they'd have squeezed all the BS out of that guy last fall
  18. They came in at .334, 43 points ahead of 2nd-place Detroit. For reference, 43 points behind Detroit (.248) would rank a team somewhere between 18th and 20th.
