  1. Putting the post-sell-off tank plan into overdrive by throwing Jackson every third game. If he gets hurt and we can collect some insurance money on his contract for PTR, well, that's just a perk
  2. Rizzo deserves to make it. Muskat said Ruggiano let the cat out of the bag that he (Rizzo) is in the Final Vote.
  3. He's out. And if Span hurt Castro he's on my [expletive] list
  4. Yeah, he tried to be as nice as he could about it, but he couldn't be more pleased to be gone.
  5. The way I hear most often is MEER-a-titch.
  6. [expletive] it, I'll go full meatball here. How'd we do in the playoffs again? Honestly, I get what you're saying, but I've always had it in my head that pitching wins in the playoffs. Cold weather, elite stuff, keeps bats at bay. Time to go to bed. May be. But seriously, can someone give me something that backs up why elite pitching doesn't win in the playoffs? Elite anything wins in the playoffs. Doesn't have to be pitching. No one on last year's Red Sox staff fits the definition of 'elite' (save Koji I suppose)
  7. Not only that, unless I'm missing someone, Rizzo is second james russell I knew I'd miss someone. Still that's nuts. Barney? I quit

  10. It's within the realm of possibility though it would shock the hell out of me
  11. Why would you think that? Russell by himself isn't enough for both pitchers, and the third team would probably be getting Hammel.
  12. That's a good point. Without knowing much about the discussions, obviously, if we could get Russell for Hammel, I'd bow at Theo's feet.
  13. Supposed to be a 3b long-term, I think. Well, that would speak volumes as to their thoughts on Kris Bryant's long-term position, I suppose.
  14. I want big league ready pieces if we're dumping Samardzija, but Russell seems like a good start. Does he project elsewhere outside of SS? I imagine he could play second.
  15. That's not a terribly big drop, and isn't he only around another year or two anyway? It's not like he's being counted on to be a huge part of the team for years.
  16. The latter, I think. Presumably letting him play a little was just a perk and since there's not a good outfielder to be found in AAA it doesn't hurt anything.
  17. Minor league assets that are valued highly enough to then turn into other assets (Cashner) don't suddenly stop being assets retroactively because they were traded and then didn't become stars. After all, presumably, if we ever start trying to win MLB games, part of Theo and Co.'s job is going to include trading some minor leaguers away for other assets.
  18. I thought it was John Dowd. It was Dowd.
