  1. I'd rather do that than a September callup. Yeah call him up right now, or wait until next year I think keeping him down is a waste of development time towards 2015, but that looks like what they're going to do. No reason to call him up in September.
  2. Baez is especially worrisome/annoying to me. Bryant is a Boras client so I can understand thinking there's no chance of a team-friendly deal there, but is there any indication we couldn't get Baez signed to a Rizzo/Castro deal if we tried? Why play the service-time game with him then? Baez's FA year matters even if you sign him to an extension. Neither become FAs until after all our TV rights are up. If they really think Baez isn't ready yet, fine, I can buy it, I guess, but we don't play in Tampa Bay or Oakland, for God's sake. His FA year shouldn't matter that much.

  4. Thanks for the reminder, Logan. It's a good thing I didn't dump McCann as I strongly considered otherwise I wouldn't have a transaction left. Drop Goldschmidt Add Miguel Cabrera
  5. 2015 should be the target because we should be trading for Stanton in the off-season. It could be done without cleaning out all our top prospects. I'm honestly not even sure why they wouldn't do it unless Miami's asking price is completely stupid.
  6. He should either be called up right now or not at all, at least from a service time perspective.
  7. He switches the hand that holds the glass between "Fiesta" and "Forever". So there's that.
  8. I'm defining 'good job' in terms of the execution of their plan. I don't like that we essentially sucked on purpose for 3 years, but within the confines of that plan they've done a solid job adding talent. We'd better be a lot better than this next year, though.
  9. Bases loaded, nobody out. Edwin's got them right where he wants them.
  10. I'm getting sick of these ridiculously long replay reviews. NY umpires should get 45 seconds and then the video cuts out. If you can't tell by then, call stands. Done.
  11. Where the hell did Castillo learn how to apply tags?
  12. If Addison Russell really ends up becoming Barry Larkin, that could end up the answer too. The last three years have mostly [expletive] sucked, but there have been some really damn good deals made.
  13. It's got to be Rizzo. Guys like him just don't come available that often, let alone get traded for less than a ransom. Though in terms of what we actually gave up vs. what we got, Feldman/Arrieta looks pretty absurd right now.
  14. Seems like Russell is just hitting the crap out of the ball. Awesome.
  15. I'm totally going to need to be reminded several times that he always does this.
  16. Sure you don't want to call him up, Jed?
  17. I like ranch on everything. Not coincidentally I'm a fatty
  18. Can you elaborate further for those of us who do not have time to hunt for this wonderful news? The fact that 1.3 years of David Price just got acquired for Austin Jackson and Drew Smyly That's not actually the deal. The Rays got Smyly, Franklin and 18-year-old, highly touted SS Willy Adames. Addison Russell is still easily the best player among those three but let's talk about what we're talking about here... Even factoring in Adames, our return is far better. Adames just makes it slightly less lopsided.
  19. Considering we literally just got information that makes our deal for Addison Russell and Billy McKinney look even better than it already did (not to mention Rizzo), bold move to say this is his favorite deal under Theo.
  20. Must have done it on the plane. He's moved past tanking to intentionally injuring himself.
  21. Gammons says Victor Caratini coming back. Almost 21, 2nd-round pick last year, .758 OPS this year in low-A. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=sa737618&position=C/3B
  22. Given the paucity of catchers in our system, that's not a big surprise.
  23. I saw at least one reporter say Tigers 3B/SS prospect Willy Adames is also in the deal.
