    Given the position we're in and the control left on Shark, I'd rather keep him and hope he becomes more amenable to an extension than drop my expectations. I wouldn't settle for a "good enough" trade for him. Me too. IMB mentioned how the Royals were raked over the coals for how much they gave up. If we can't get a team to give up more than most pundits assume he's worth, I'd just as soon keep Samardzija.

    I wouldn't count Bonifacio or Ruggiano to be contributors next season. Bonifacio is a prime trade candidate and Ruggiano is his year's Schierholtz. Bonifacio might be out until close to if not past the all-star break, so if he was a trade candidate he probably won't be now.

    Len and JD don't know. Speculating Rondon may be 'tender' and Renteria is giving him a couple of days. Ramirez is at least as good anyway, so it works for me.

    Military appreciation day in Pittsburgh. I can't [expletive] stand the camo. Putting aside any issues of offensiveness/jingoism/etc, it looks terrible. You're offended by camo? Personally, I don't care, but some (Uni Watch's Paul Lukas) don't like decking people out in camo for any occasion remotely related to the military.

    A 2.54 ERA and 3.03 FIP with an over 3/1 K/BB ratio is not a #3 on any team unless you are absolutely hoarding aces.

    Are players who run hard all the time hurting the club? That's the necessary corollary to your statement. Some of them are. Every time someone argues everyone should always hustle, I remember when Aramis Ramirez was shelved because of an ankle injury he got running out a ground ball on which he was out anyway.

    We not only scored but did so 3 times. A win was asking too much!

    I'm going to the game tomorrow. The Cubs have lost the last 5 times I've gone and haven't scored in the last 2. That streak is toast no matter who makes the thread.
