  1. Well, if the catch yesterday happened as Bryant was heading out of bounds, he wouldn't have reached the ball forward for the end zone. My scenario could be in the middle of the field. So, if the player gets greedy with his ball control it's catch? I'm confused what your point is. Just looking for clarification. I think his point is that the only reason the ball came loose is because Dez, having already caught the ball, was stretching for the end zone. If he'd been at the 15-yard line instead of the 5, he just falls on his butt and this is never an issue. The bottom line is the rule needs to be adjusted somehow. Any set of rules that results in Josh Cribbs being ruled to have possession on that punt and Dez Bryant not being ruled to have possession on that catch needs to be examined.
  2. I'm rooting for Colts-anyone. And I'm not generally a Colts fan. Rodgers was game today, but unless he heals up really quickly, I'm not sure how GB can beat Seattle. Pack will need to be at the top of its game, I imagine.
  3. My thing with the call is that at no point does the ball hit the ground. The ball is dislodged from Dez' hands, but he then catches it again. And he was never out of bounds. Just awful all around.
  4. Hmmmm That would be fascinating.
  5. Yeah, Winston is talented, but Mariota to Tampa would scare me an awful lot more.
  6. Between Greg Hardy's domestic violence conviction/appeal/etc, Cam getting into a car crash that effed up his back, and now Ron Rivera dealing with a freaking house fire, this has been a strange off-field season for Carolina.
  7. Cam was back to being "injured Cam" today. If he'd been like that in December, no way the Panthers make the playoffs. If he doesn't heal up significantly, next week will be very ugly. It'll be lost in how awful Ryan Lindley was, but Luke Kuechly is absolutely unbelievable. Was all over both interceptions.
  8. For me it was the getting away with rape, overall culture, overrated aspect of things. But you make a good point. FSU and OSU have much more in common than they don't. You keep insisting on rape, and there's no evidence to support it. Are you hiding it somewhere? And the culture? Jimbo has kicked many kids off the team or benched them for other issues. He's stuck by players who were later exonerated, yet the media gives him no credit for doing so, only crying about "the culture." lol- He [expletive] a mostly unconscious drunk girl who had defensive wounds on her body. Those are the facts. I call it rape, you can call it whatever you like. Except according to toxicology reports she wasn't drunk and had no other drugs in her system. Take it from someone who has some experience in this area - when one of your team's players has been accused of some sort of sexual assault, it's best to just concede that regardless of how true the allegations may be, it's a really [expletive] situation and just move on rather than loudly defend the guy's honor.
  9. I don't see how you can say they "clearly deserved" to be one. But I think everybody hates them because they have so many run-ins with the law and are the quintessential small town cops protect the football team organization. They are in Florida, which is another strike. And they kind of lucked their way into an undefeated season which forced people into begrudgingly allowing them to participate in the tourny. Lucked into? How so? Just off the top of my head, they should have lost to Clemson but for their RB fumbling the ball away when the Tigers were already in position for a game-winning field goal in the final minute, and they should have lost to ND but for Irish receivers bailing FSU out and committing OPI on the game's penultimate play. They also fell behind by 17 to NC State, by 9 to Florida and several other times this season (which, yes, they came back, but great teams shouldn't need to do that over and over again). 2014 FSU was basically 2012 ND only without the road win over Oklahoma, and the surprise level for me that Oregon crunched them was zero.
  10. If not for that stupid OPI at the end of the ND game, we would have gotten Bama vs. Baylor and Oregon vs. Ohio State (the latter of which we will get anyway, I suppose). Yesterday was awesome, but without FSU it could've been even better. I think the best part of yesterday was seeing FSU get humiliated. If they weren't there, that never happens, and that would be a shame. That's a pretty good counterpoint.

  12. "Imagine if that MSU/Baylor game had been part of an 8 team playoff!!" - People who aren't aware #5 wouldn't play #8 in an 8 team playoff
  13. Mississippi as a state getting a hard slap of reality.
  14. Marrone's opt-out, which was apparently triggered by the ownership change, guarantees him his 2015 pay of $4 million without any offset for his next job. I'd argue the crazy move is not to opt out if you have that kind of clause.
  15. Hey. We'll be in the 2nd round with a .500 record (8-8-1), thank you very much.
  16. Totally didn't see this coming. Good for Gary Patterson for getting the Frogs fired up.
  17. Schefter went to Michigan, I highly doubt he's rooting for Harbaugh to not go there.
  18. It's not as much peaking at the right time as it is lindley starting a road playoff game Lindley definitely helps, but if the garbage team from the middle of the season or even from a month ago had snuck in somehow I'd still bet Arizona would win. The fact that the defense suddenly morphed back into the 2013 unit at the beginning of December is more confidence-inducing than Lindley.
  19. Narduzzi going to Pitt, and this looking like a done deal has me somewhat down about football in Michigan. Hope we beat Baylor, or this may e.d up being a sad week. Clearly, if you're a major program in the Midwest, the answer is to royally [expletive] something up like Tattoogate or hiring Brady Hoke so you can fall ass over tea kettle into one of the elite coaches in the sport.
  20. As awful as they've been most of the year, I feel extremely confident Carolina will beat Arizona. Peaking at the right time. They'll get utterly destroyed by Seattle or the Packers, but still.
  21. Aaand I lost on that facemask penalty on Thomas that most of Twitter felt was a bad call.
  22. I need 32 points from Thomas and Anderson. I'm only even alive thanks to Luck's massive [expletive]. Would have it in the bag if I'd started clearly inferior Ryan Tannehill over Matt Ryan. Meh.
  23. Yes. Each team has won it three times in its current alignment and never twice in a row.
  24. We could if the Saints lose and Falcons and Panthers tie. Panthers clinch with a tie regardless of the Saints. They would still be a six-win NFC South champ. Yes, but we would be the champ regardless of what the Saints did. UMF's post implied otherwise.
