    Heyman tweeted today that the Cubs are basically out on Niese and the market for him is "less than robust".

    As depth I guess Niese would be fine. I would hope they don't intent to give away anything of value for him, though. Your looking at giving up Baez and Almora for Niese unless its a salary dump The Mets would love to toss Niese out the door to make room for all their young studs, no one is paying that kind of price for him. And if someone does it won't be the Cubs.

    Well, we're what 11.5 back now? Even the most deluded among us (me included) can't really hold out much hope for reversing that.

    This team seems to have a lot of those stretches - just about to break through and then into the tank. It was like 3 days ago only 2 teams in baseball had fewer losses and now it feels... a lot worse than that.

    Honestly, will anything the Cubs do ever be enough? Within the confines of the tanking plan, the front office hit for a really good average with the important moves. And it really just doesn't feel like anything will ever be enough to overcome these dick bags
