  1. That's brutal. Then again, they have 3 recent titles and they're in our way, so hahaha
  2. This inning is Motte's rebuttal, I guess.
  3. Please don't let this be the spot where Motte gets the regression he's been avoiding so far
  4. Nice to see Russell work a walk given his struggles lately. I'm ignorant of whatever speed he might have. Any chance we could send him?
  5. All things considered, "boy we really suck tonight" type snark in response to the offense we have seen in this game seems pretty harmless to me. There have been far worse game threads.
  6. The game thread isn't going to be a paragon of great posting when an ostensibly in contention Cubs team doesn't score any runs. The people who come in here to congratulate themselves for not posting reactionary [expletive] are pretty annoying in their own right. If you hate these posts so much, start banning.
  7. Bukie is right, it's only been a week since we scored 3 runs in a game, guys. Calm down
  8. Well, we never score when we don't either, so no sweat.
  9. We made contact with what, two pitches after the double? A Fowler foul and Rizzo's pop-up? [expletive] ridiculous.
  10. Leadoff double by Herrera is a gift from baseball Valhalla, please take advantage
  11. I agree re: the Dunleavy signing, but Butler is good enough to justify whatever the Bulls can pay him.
  12. 2-4, ok, everything else bleargh (the way Fowler's played lately anyway)
  13. Bulls sign Butler to 5Y/95M max deal with opt-out after 4 years, per Woj.
  14. Heyman tweeted today that the Cubs are basically out on Niese and the market for him is "less than robust".
  15. As depth I guess Niese would be fine. I would hope they don't intent to give away anything of value for him, though. Your looking at giving up Baez and Almora for Niese unless its a salary dump The Mets would love to toss Niese out the door to make room for all their young studs, no one is paying that kind of price for him. And if someone does it won't be the Cubs.
  16. Welcome. If your arrival turns the season around you will be provided with all our finest meats and cheeses.
  17. Well, we're what 11.5 back now? Even the most deluded among us (me included) can't really hold out much hope for reversing that.
  18. This team seems to have a lot of those stretches - just about to break through and then into the tank. It was like 3 days ago only 2 teams in baseball had fewer losses and now it feels... a lot worse than that.
  19. Nothing in the game thread is intended to be taken seriously (I don't think)
